awesome sounds like your set up, well your 08 should be alright i run my 99 blazer through it and i have had minor problems lol but its only how hard you push your rig.... there are rough spots but you can go around it if you want i usually do as im at stock height witch is about to change... but anyways its a lot of fun and its a long trail to goes from sand to dirt to mud at anything and its all state ground so tear it up lol....

Just inform and warn, cause in the end people are gonna do whatever they wanna do anyways.

If the referred to area near the casino is the old railroad grade that follows the power lines, don't get caught. The power company uses that as access to the towers, and the dnr like to patrol it.

Yankee Springs is actually a very small area mostly for hikers and bikers. There is a few access roads to get to scenic areas. A park sticker for access to state parks is req'd in that area. And is illegal to use 4wd to play as the 2wd rule applies to the access rds.

The trails near Hastings are actually the Barry state game area, same 2wd rule applies. People do get tickets and people have had there vehicles impounded. These rds are good for a sunday cruise to get out and see nature. If you stay on the beaten path and drive them legit you'll not need 4wd. If you go off the beaten path and abuse the area you do risk getting caught, people have.

Yankee Springs and Barry state game area have lost sections of the trails do to illegal use and abuse over the last few years. It really would be a shame to lose anymore.

Again, my post is just ment to inform the legalities and the reality of the area. People are gonna do whatever they wanna do.

Looks like your in Elsie, check out Rocks and Valleys and the Mounds. Theres lots of groups that wheel out of those areas. And there is no concern of getting in trouble at the private parks like their is on state land if you wanna "tear it up". www.GLFWDA.org has a list of clubs, some might be in your area. Might be worth a look and find some guys in your neck of the woods.

well nice to know i never knew that, i always thought they were just state trails to ride on, a lot of people ride out there and never heard of any buddy getting caught but im sure there are dnr running around... i mostly ride on the daget lake trails and ive even met dnr out there and never they bothered me. there a lot more trails than you think out there i know where the seanic rout is and the trails i run on are know where near those... i grew up right down the road and my dad has been taking me out there for years....i also dont just tear it up i love to just trail ride out there....

Wasn't making aqcusations, just informing. .

And I to have lived in this area many years and as well rode them with my dad. Back in the day before their were issues and the laws were enforced these trails used to be something difficultand "hard core". But even back then it was illegal to use 4wd on them. It just wasn't enforced and nobody knew the laws. I know the area very well as well. The trails are there for us to use, just not abuse. By no means am I saying we can't ride on them. Back before I learned the laws I was once one that abused them, I have no problem admitting to it. But someone took me aside and explained it to me and I learned the error of my ways and just passing the information along.

Chevy have you looked into the www.Sundowners4x4.org? They are based out of your area. Its my understanding they have areas in the area that are private and have group outings to wheel as well as trail rides. I used to be a member, but am no longer do to distance and time constraints. They have monthly meetings near otsego. Might be worth checking out. They do alot of good things in the Kalamazoo area. When it comes to wheeling its all about who you know and who they know, kinda think of it as networking.
