The only thing I bring is spare tires, jack and tools. shit I went to california wheeling with two trucks on a trailer and had no spare parts. not for the tow rig or the wheeling rigs. like hoser said most of the time you have the wrong part. do the maintenance make sure thigs are good before you go and enjoy.

i would rather have recovery items than spare parts. strap, flares, cell phone, warm cloths, extra food etc.

mschaffer66- the jeep has 186k on it and i dont know what is new and whats been replaced so idk if i have 100 on stock u joints or anything.... thats why im wondering what things you all would think would go out

cerial- ill check all the hoses and everything (didnt even think of it) but ive only had the jeep for about 2 months now so idk what all has been replaced

and i really dont have the money to get a tow truck and all its not worth it, i always just drive or coast off the road as far as possible and have someone as a lookout and let me know when and car is on that side of the road and normally ill crawl out depending on where im at, but i havent been able to not make it to an exit or atleast far enough of the road to feel comfortable

If you think your u-joints could go bad, change them before you leave. If you think your sensor, fuel pump, or any other thing could go bad, change it before you leave. It is called preventative maintenance. Bring some oil, trans fluid, and coolant if it makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside, otherwise any gas station will have that stuff if you need it. Other than that, the obvious like a spare and some tools to change said spare if need be.

I once machined a new head from a tree branch with nothing but a screw driver.
Never got it installed because I didn't have a 5/8 wrench, when I got to the shop it turned out to be a plugged air filter.

Take the jeep to a car wash and clean it up and degrease the engine.
Do a basic maintenance check topping off fluids and looking for leaks on the now de-greased engine.

I would check the condition of your hoses and if you can't remember ever replacing them this might be a good time.
don't degrease the engine, it might start leaking again.

yup i know. its going to suck, thats why im keeping all my stock parts left over... but it does help indeed that my old mans best friends own an inspection shop, plus my grandfather works there, so i might get a weeee little leeway but mainly will know what needs to get done and the jeep really isnt that bad ball joints and TRE are solid, very little rust on it and just have to put the stock springs back on it to get it through inspections, might have to put brakes on and fix the ebrake. other then that, i should be fine..... well see lol im good with michigan plates till next November

I don't think suspension is really going to be an issue for you, more the tire wear depth, brake rotor thickness, headlights and some other small stupid shit. then again I have left my lifted YJ registered in MI for the last 7+ years I have been out here cause there's no way in hell that thing will pass with how it is currently set up
