Default Need another quad

I have a 2011 Renegade 800 and my son has an 04 TRX90. I am looking at getting another quad for my wife/friends to use when we go out. 2000.00 budget. What would you recomend for trail riding?

I was thinking of either a 400ex or z400 (something along these lines).

Reverse is not a huge necessity but would probably be nice.

What yas think?

400ex, parts everywhere, cheap to fix/maintain, good quality. don't know anything about the Z400 other then there is a lot less of them out there then 400EXs.

Yeah I think I'm leaning that way just because of that. Honda's are known for the reliability and I like that.

Thanks

I love my old Honda's, My 200S that I seized up like 6 times in one day earlier this year started right up after sitting for like 4 months and I rode it all day through deep mud, and really deep water, beating the living hell outta it, an it still ran great at the end of the day. It smokes pretty good after leaning it out to the point of seizing multiple times, but it still runs like a champ. I also had A Tri-Z with me, that i got for $300 and have never ridden, I was having to much fun on the old honda to even bother pulling the race trike out.

the z 400s are great we had three at one point, i bought mine new in 2008 and had no probs the others we got used and had no probs either. very capable machine, i have been in the woods at the dunes, on tracks. a little bit of everything with mine, i jump the shit out of it too, its nice cause +2005 ones have nitrogen shocks with reserves all the way around, the Honda's only have that in the rear, makes a huge difference in both jumping and just trail riding

Being a 2 stroke and a bit on the small side I ruled out blasters awhile ago. Fun for what they are- just not what I'm looking for.

Thanks

Also z400's are liquid cooled opposed to just being air cooled like the ex. But their both good! You should find one close to $2000. But I've seen them a few hundred more. Id go with Wich ever one some one will take $2000. You can't go wront with either.

If your looking for something that literally ANYBODY can get on and ride I suggest a polaris trailboss 330. Full size chassis, very forgiving, automatic trans with reverse, will do 40mph in sand bone stock. I have 2 of them and have beat them from michigan to oliver springs tennessee (coal creek ohv area). Awsome for trails.

I bought a pair for me and wife back on '04 and we had a lot of fun with them and they are still ready to run today. You can find them on craigslist only a couple years old for under $2000 all the time.

Well I picked up a 2005 Suzuki LTZ250. Auto clutch 5 speed with a shaft drive and reverse. That little thing is a ball to ride. The biggest complaint I have is the suspension needs to be softened up. They have a kit to widen it by 4.5 inches and be able to use the 400ex shocks and I think thats a really good idea. Great little machine though!

250EX is an easy going quad for beginners. Shaft drive and "no maintenance".
