Raw stupid if you do. Sure it will run but the dirt and contaminants will eventually destroy your injection pump or motor.

What year 7.3 are you asking about? The older IDI's actually need a little more lubricity added to the mix to let them run correctly. Two cycle oil with TC-W3 brings them back to life as does a money saving mixture of "filtered" waste engine oil. I have ran up to 100% WMO but after a few weeks the GP's tend to coke up. I have found a trouble free 50/50 mix waste oil/Diesel fuel is where I like to run at.

powerstrokes don't like shit added to fuel other than additives designed for fuel. makes the HPOP and injectors work harder than necessary to inject fuel to engine. Kinda like bacon grease straight to the bloodstream, bad idea.

Im interested in this to, what if you filter the big particles out of the oil and then mix 50/50 or so with diesel?

yes and no
pour it straight in.... HELL NO!!!

filter it and mix it, than yes.
I wouldn't use waste diesel motor oil, but only because of what I've heard about it, and that is just me.

Used motor oil from a gas motor, or atf I wouldn't be worried about if it was filtered properly and was mixed down to at least 50/50

the 7.3 in question is a 97. I added some motor oil and atf to the fuel tanks. I had about 16 gallons of diesel and put in a few gallons of the mix. Figured I'd give it a shot since I've read people doing it. Just wanted to see if anyone here had any experiences with doing such.

My cummins would run on unfiltered oil of any sort. He'll I think the p-pump would have run gravel if I had wanted to. I have yet to run anything other than on road fuel in my psd.

Seeing your other thread here =
waste oil. trans fluid. gear oil, or veggie oil.... - Great Lakes 4x4. The largest offroad forum in the Midwest
about wvo etc... reminded me that my brother has been running filtered waist oil in his 97 7.3 for ~ 5 years without any problems. He filters it and then adds it up to about 30%. He thinks it starts and runs better, just an fyi....

just add 1 qt of cheap atf to a full tank of fuel every now ant then. we do it in our 2002 powersmoke and when we change fuel filters in our semis we fill the filters with atf. never had a problem yet. we did notic a slite increase in milage on the 7.3 but not sure if it was the atf or not.
