Actually from one vehicle to the next on the same obstacle Tim, so many factors even though most everyone was built almost exactly the same.

I drove up helmet both times I was there just to get the feel for it. I've never had the notion I would ever make it up. I honestly don't think a full body, full armor, fully loaded trail rig will make it up. Just too top heavy.

The right side is easier too, but thats not to say it isn't still wicked steep and hard. I have no desire to "roll into it" from 40 feet back with my jeep. Mostly because it would bottom out the front bumper into the rock and make my cd player skip and probably deploy my airbags.

I think that a full bodied rig on stickies "MIGHT" be able to crawl it during a rain. Every time my rear tires would drop down and dip into the water at the base I would get great traction for a few seconds. But, since that was only the rear, the front never had the chance to bite. Given a flood of water, just like in the stream beds, it may do it. Or.......... someone could land on thier lid.

aj almost had it with a full body toyota fourunner. he just could not feed the squirels fast enough. the right is definetly doable in a full body rig.but i would only try the full throttle assault with a stick shift or your going to roll if you dont make it.

Why will a stick keep you from rolling?

push the clutch in and it will go back down the hill..damn hard to do in a auto. you know jim that there is a few seconds even if your real good at getting reverse, that the tire motion stops in a auto and then you slide sideways. alot more forgiving in a stick.. that is why we saw 2 guys try the hill 20 times each, at full throttle assaults at the loonie run.. (both sticks) there was a bunch of damn nice rigs in the group, but no balls.....

With a clutch, all you can do is push the clutch in. Watch the first vid that Rob posted at the 1.59 mark. I started to slide and stabbed reverse. Look close, I was driving in reverse. There is no time delay. I actually did it twice on HH. All my gates have been removed between D and R. I can smack the shifter while still under power and go into reverse instantly. I can also go directly from R into D. 95geo taught me that one.

After last weekend I really need to do this with my B&M, is it obvious once you open it up to see what needs to be done?

Dale, I'm pretty sure I read a write up on Pirate, might have even been a billavista write up on how to modify your shift gates.

Yup, anyone that wheels with an auto knows how to work it. None of Tim Cameron's buggies are sticks.

It's really not that hard. Almost every shifter goes from drive into reverse. Take your shifter cover off and look to see what keeps it from going into reverse. Grind that area out and now it will go from drive to reverse.

Just don't do what Shawn did and grind it out to go to park.

To give Jim credit, the rope on the front was not his idea. He had tried a few times with no luck and the group talked him into trying again with a few guys on the front to see if the extra weight on a ski rope would be enough to get it to continue to move.

I think if he was aired down more, the cheater tires would have worked their magic better.

Ok what I here you say is if he had a lake of water and water skiers pulling him up HHill he would still need to lower tire pressure on his cheaters tires

funny but

It was interesting while in Moab. I couldn't quite get up Widow Maker while crawling. Tab, (just his lightweight girlish figure) by himself was able give enough downward pressure on my front tires for me to walk it.

Erin,
You guys spent 5 hours screwing around trying different things at the v-notch but want to criticize us for spending 5 minutes experimenting with the rope?
