But based on how much the OP just said he tows a diesel may be in order, especially since he said the payments will be less a month than his gasser and he does not keep a truck around long enough to have to worry about major repairs......hopefully.

which makes your story even harder to believe.

your lifted silverado with a 5.3 got better mileage then my stock silverado (2007 new body style which got exactly 1 mpg better than my 2000classic in all conditions) while towing a blazer which is clearly heavier then my wrangler....makes perfect sense.

But he has a custom tune dude, C_U_S_T_O_M. Might be a Hartwig tune adding 239289037489237489273 hp

20.5 mpg from my friends back home sitting on 37's. I reset it once because said friend left some black marks on the road.

What is like to know since .I'm looking at getting a new dmax is there any way to get rid of the regen and the def?

With the h&s tuner you can remove you dpf for sure. I think you are able to remove the def tank also with that tuner but not sure.
