Michigan ranks 2nd in Bloomberg Economic Evaluation of the States

Great news to report: Bloomberg recently ranked Michigan 2nd in its first-ever Economic Evaluation of the States.

The Bloomberg analysis, which takes factors such as personal income, tax revenue, employment and home prices into account, shows that Michigan is recovering economically much faster than the rest of the nation. This encouraging news comes on the heels of other positive signs that our reforms are working:
Michigan’s unemployment rate is dropping faster than the national average. Over the past year, the unemployment rate in Michigan dropped by 3 percentage points, compared to only 0.6 percent nationally
Michigan is now the top state for new technology jobs
Newsweek predicted Michigan will be #1 for new job growth in 2012
Fitch Ratings upgraded Michigan’s bond rating to positive based on our “prudent budgeting”
One year ago, you elected me to make the tough decisions we need to reinvent Michigan. Since then, we’ve eliminated the state’s $1.5 billion deficit, approved a structurally balanced budget, streamlined regulations, ended the unfair double tax on small businesses and replaced the confusing, job-killing Michigan Business Tax with a new system that will encourage job growth. These steps are putting Michigan in a stronger position.

After suffering through the “lost decade” Michigan is now on the verge of one of the greatest economic turnarounds of a state in our nation’s history. But we need to keep our foot on the gas if we want this momentum to continue.

Michigan’s Bloomberg ranking is great news, but we still have a lot of work to do to create an environment where entrepreneurs can invest and create jobs and young people can raise a family. Working together, we will make Michigan a model of innovation and success.

90% of it is made up shit with a spin put on it.

Bureau of Labor shows MI unemployment in Sept 2010 at 11.9% (Aug 12.2% and Oct 11.6%) So based on your email the current rate should be somewhere in the 8.6-9.3% area. Which it is not, Sept 2011 rate is 11.1. So IT IS down from last year, but not 3% and may not be down at a rate matching the national average either.
Granted current rates are based on those getting benefits and does not include those out of work w/o benefits.
So in the end, if you are working and live in MI you are still part of the vast majority. And of those not working a large portion of them have not worked, will not work and don't want to work anyway, so whats it matter.
