Umm... No. I have been on the road for all but two weeks since the first of the year. It's really good for the checkbook, but sucks for getting Jeep projects done.

I did spend a little time on the Jeep this week though. I cut the rear wheel openings to make some tire clearance. Putting it back together now and I'm happy with the way it's coming along. Here's the cut.

Rear Wheel openings:

Once I stepped up to the 38's I needed to do something about the wheel openings. I had already trimmed as much as I could without getting into the wheel wells.

Before

The tire would stuff further than this on the trail and I was starting to cut the treads up.

This is how much room I wanted (black line).

No going back now.

Cut this out and moved it back about 4'.

I used 3/16" rod to weld between the quarter panel and the inner wheel well.

And I was able to reuse most of the inners.

A little bed liner and it will finish nicely.

Should be plenty of room now, I am finishing it with a set of JCR's quarter guards with light boxes built in. Eventually i would like to come down 1-2" in height.

Driver's side is gonna suck though, due to this...

Hopefully I will have some pics by Saturday. I painted the front bumper and rear quarters today. I just need to clean it up and take some pics.

I did make a grab handle for the passenger side. I've thought about it for some time and have never seen anyone do it. Considering I don't have airbags it worked pretty good.

How did you mount the handle?

I just tied into the frame where the airbag used to mount. I'm not sure you could do this if you still have airbags. I just cut out small holes in the airbag cover for the handle to go thru.

Front bumper is finally done (mostly), I still need to figure out my suck down winch. It pulls the front down to the bumps stops easily, but as soon as I take the power off it releases. I was putting power directly to the winch for testing. Do I need to have the winch solenoid hooked up to make it stay engaged?

Skid for the bottome of the steering box

Track bar and brace

Bumper - ignore the huge and ugly roller fairlead, it will be replaced when I switch to rope.

id worry about it becoming a projectile if the bag deployed, the bag not functioning properly if deployed, or what would happen to the passenger if the bags failed to deploy...

looks sweet for your use though.

This is the best I could do in the yard, I have another 2" before I hit the stops. Much better than before.
