Default Jetage time travel 1963 Ford Galaxie

So my wife bought me this 1963 Galaxie 500 for Christmas. I am the second owner of the car. Its very clean and very much original. So the plans are new wheels and tires, recover the seats from the wear over the years. And then get the a/c operational.

The car is all original paint. Car came from North Carolina and was garage kept all its life.

She knows what i like . I have always loved the 1963 galaxie. They are not near as valuable as their GM counterpart but i like them. Usually we buy classic cars for a investment. This one is for pleasure. We plan on driving it for two weeks this fall along route 66 all the way to the end of the trail.

Ended up going out last night about midnight and steam cleaned the engine/trans and underbody of the car. The 390 and cruiseomatic have no visual leaks so that is good news. There was very little grime. Did i mention this car has 52477 original miles? About 90%of the factory paint is still intact on the underbody. So i will touch up some of that today.

The rear package tray needs to come out and be redone as it is faded some. This has a rare factory am/fm radio. (1963 was the first year for am/fm). So i plan to have the radio rebulit as it does turn on but only makes some noise. And i will replace the one speaker in the dash. So i plan to pull all of that out today and send it off to the radio rebuilder. Will update pics when there is something to show.

With the snow storm not much to do so i ordered some parts. Car wasnt equipped with seat belts so ordered up some. Want to keep my son safe when he's riding in the car. Also ordered some fender flags that were non exist. Car has me baffled, 390 cars were equipped with fender flags chrome were for standard 390 and gold were for hipo 390 cars. I have ran the numbers and the car has the original 390 in it. So i ordered up the flags. I got the gold flags just due to my preference. Still don't know why it had no flags. Guess its a mystery ill have to try to solve .

With the snow day today i went out to the Barn and did some little things to the car. I found the original bulid sheet on the car. I adjusted all the brakes and painted all the drums. Was going to powder coat them but decided against that. I also pulled out the stereo and will be sending it out this week to have it rebulit.

Thank you, friend of mine was trying to get me to put 18"wheels on it. I just can't do that. I don't care for the big wheel look on older cars. I did get the seats dropped off to the upholstery guy hoping to have them back by the weekend.
