Default Drain Flies

Anybody ever dealt with these little bastards? I've spent the past few weeks dealing with them, and I think I finally put the last nail in their coffin. Soon after we moved in to our new house (and I mean new construction, not just new to us) we started having these little flies around the kitchen sink. At first I didnt think anything of it, as it as late summer, and flies are everywhere down here. Next I knew, they were EVERYWHERE. Somehow they were getting into the refrigerator and dying inside it.

Supposedly they lay eggs in, and feed on the gunk inside drains, just above the trap. I attempted to kill their eggs with boiling water, which helped for a couple days, but then they came back. So then I tried boiling water and some bleach, to hopefully poison their water supply. That worked for about a week. Finally I have treated every drain in the house with some enzyme drain cleaner stuff that hopefully will resolve the problem by eliminating the gunk that they live on.

Pour gas down the drain, then light it.

Im betting fruit flys. Any fruit on counters get rid of it! Bleach in drains, they will nest in old food. You can make traps too. Small glass jar filled 1/3 of the way with apple cider vinager. Saran wrap stretched across the top with a rubber band or lid with no center to make it tight. Then poke small pin holes in the wrap randomly. Not too many. Check and kill daily. Alot of them will drown.

that just sounds like a great way to attract more of the rapidly reproducing little fuckers.

The traps work wonders. Every bartender uses that one for a reason. Every year at my winery we kill about a billion of the little bastards that way.

Id look for an open sewer line, or a dry trap somewhere.
