Yup its another jeep build!

Ive always lurked around here on Greatlakes but never really felt like making a thread. well now's the time! (i work 2nd shift and havent went to bed yet so whynot!)

I spend most of my time over at Jeep Fourm so heres a like to my thread there just incase i miss sumthing here.
http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f197/...hingy-1267435/

Ive always loved just hitting a back road to clear my head so i naturally found my self liking jeeps. I started out with a 84 xj a few years ago. turned out it was a total lemon. i spent moar time wrenching then wheeling. so that went down the road.

after that i really wanted a 4.0 powerd xj but i just couldnt find one in my price range that i liked.

till i found a post on craigslist that said "95 cherokee $700". called em up and ended up with this

i pretty much fell in love with the zj. it had almost everything the xj didnt. only thing i didnt like was how under powerd it felt with a 4.0. i kept it stock other then a 2" bb untill this came along.

i end up selling the white zj to my dad so i could keep the purple one. it had a hydrolocked 5.2 but i loved it.

purple zj lifted 3.5" with 31's

i really loved that jeep but a few months ago me and the gf were faced with a decision, sell the jeep or live in it. so it went down the road.

i knew i wanted another jeep asap so once we both found work again i started scouring craigslist.

after a few weeks i found this.

its a white 95 with a 4.0. at the time it has 155,xxx on the clock.

i scooped it up for $500 cash.

from there i knew where i was headed with it. after wheeling/building 3 zj's i knew what i wanted from this one.

moar to come!

When i bought the jeep i knew it wasnt exactly what i wanted but for the price i couldnt pass it up.

It came with a 2" bb and the shiny rims. but the down side was the rockers were SHOOOOT. i plan on boatside in the next few months so i decided to go grab sum plastic rocker covers from the jy and then throw my sliders on.

on the ramps, in the backround is my gf's 96 5.2 zj! were a zj family!

whats left of the drivers side rocker

painting!

and the finished product!

My sliders were made by a local fabricator! if youd like his info please pm me on it.

also decided to swap out the broken fog lights while i had the time.

to me it looked %100 better

Then from there i decided to just wheel the crap outta it untill i found teh next week link.

turns out it had the ground clearance of a field mouse.

moar wheeling pics

so i decided to buy this

a 4" zone kit! bought it from my local dealer/club president

between me and him (cheif master of the cadillac jeepers) it took us a good soild day to get it all done.

lift done with 33's, parked next to muh buddys 5.9

very first time i took it out i end up snapping the front cv drive shaft

so i end up rolling around in 2 wheel for a while untill i picked up a pinion yoke and u-joint shaft out of another zj.

out of the blue i get a phone call from the guy who made my sliders saying he had a rear bumper if i was intrested. so i jumped on it!

MM rear bumper

Painted (sorry about the crappy pic, it was dark and raining)

picked up sum 33x12.5 bias ply tsl's cheap but the only rims i had laying around at the time with stockers so on they went!

gotta admit with the stock rims it worked out perfect! when flexing the tire completly misses the fenders! but they grab the ca's like mad.

wheeled it like mad for a bit

then i end up hitting a deer the day before F-ing bow season!!!

the header needed replaced anyway but still!

i took the oppertunity to switch to the 96-98 style becasue i just happen to have a 5.9 grille layin around.

finished product. and to anyone planning on swaping, just call around and get a jy header. i bought a new oem replacement from Gene's in Cadillac, they dont come with headlight adjusters and the 93-95 adjusters are completly diffrent.

someone will say it, so it might as well be me. moar is spelled more.

I think you will be fine with the 4.0

I do love a nice cost effective rig, a zj was a nice choice

side note: it's too bad that it didn't work out the the 84 xj, that thing looked tits

I know, i spelled it that way on pourpous! public schools did me's good!

so far i really think a regear is in order but at the same time im running bia ply tsl's. they are so freaking heavy it isnt funny. i think with sum good non-swamper radial's id be much more happy with it.

and as for the woody, it had a 2.8 v-6. with in 2 months the motor, trans, t-case, and a a few other things crapped out. it got to the point where i just couldnt do it anymore. especially since i was just outta high school with a part time job.

I would look at a winch in the near future. This is the place i found that sells a winch plate that mounts right in the frame and it works great on my ZJ.

I like the ZJ, in a few months it will end up looking like mine. All kinds of beat up, fenders cut, dents everywhere haha. Mines 6.5" on 35s.

post a pic man! i always love seeing zj's done right!

im really on the fence about cutting my fenders because id really like to get the Iceland flairs. with them then i wouldnt have to go any higher to clear 35"s after the regear, 8.8 swap, and radius arms O.o

Nice looking zj. Thought about getting a set of the Iceland flares also but they are out of my price range right now. Mite just trim my fenders up a bit so i can run 35's. Keep up the good work.

Thanks! id really like the iceland's but like you said, right now there just a bit outta my price range.

as far as fender trimming, i cant bring myself to do it because ive never seen a rig with cut fenders that made me think "wow that looks good!"

Nice build so far! Those are the best looking bumpers I have ever seen for a ZJ. Also digging the "Jeeps are like legos" sticker, so true, so true...

I have the superwinch LP8500. Its an awesome winch and i love it. Ive never had a problem with it, although i wish the cable speed was a little faster. This winch has gotten me out of a good many situations as well as many others who have gotten stuck.
