Default Debate 10-18

Who's watching?
I still like Herman Cain. He's handling the pressure well. +1
Perry took another cheap shot at Romney. -1
Newt sticks to the point and respects the others. +1
I'm neutral on all the others so far.

Well, Bachman won't answer a question and Santorum spends too much effort attacking the other candidates.

I find it interesting that for all the comments about our politics on this site, bashing this candidate or that one, no one watched the debate.

I never watch them because I don't judge a politican by his words but only by his actions. Nothing they say in the debate will amount to a hill of beans once in office.

So you don't find it beneficial to get their views, see how they react under fire, see if they can answer a question or dodge a question? You don't care to see if they have a good understanding of domestic or foreign issues or to see how they may want to steer congress once they're in office?

Perry was out for Romney Blood

Ron Paul is Bat shit crazy

Herman Cain Held his ground

Newt Gingrich has a few good things to say.

I watched a few bits, I can not stand watching a political argument where they try to argue and talk over each other or attack the other person's viewpoint instead of defending their own intelligently.

with that said.

I thought Cain held his ground fairly well.
I thought Romeny and Newt stayed on task and answered questions well.

I thought perry was an immature fuckhead interupting Romeny constantly and not understanding how a debate should work.

I liked Santorum's final statement. If he got more air time, he might shine. With that, I don't think he's ready to be president but may be in the future. He's intelligent and believes in protecting our country first.

This goes a long way with me.

President George W. Bush was an american through and through, there is no denying his love for this country, it's citizens, it's troops, etc. Policy may not have always been agreed with, but he was a true american.

Doucher N'Obama couldn't give a shit less about the american people.

I only caught the end of everyone bashing Cain's 9,9,9 tax plan

Which I dont know how screwed I would be on it.

I pay around 30-40% federal income tax every year, and it that went down to 9
I wonder what the offset of a 17.25% sales tax on every local purchase would be.

Would the Federal sales tax be in addition to the state sales tax? I realize they are separate entities but I haven't followed his 9,9,9 plan all that closely so I wasn't sure if he was suggesting that federal would replace the state in some way.

It would be in addition, not a replacement. So in Michigan the total sales tax would be 15%.

I'm ok with the increase in sales tax if it honestly gets offset elsewhere. The thing that I like about the federal sales tax is that all the tourists coming to our country and all the people living off of the government now get to share in some of our costs.

Newt said it the best to Herman last night. He said he thinks the concept has merit but is not as simple or straightforward as it sounds on the surface. He also said it would take years to impliment. I think he's right. He also complimented Herman on his efforts. I really like the fact that both Newt and Herman continue to take the high road.

I agree. However, convincing people of that is going to be the real challenge.
