Default Ranger 4cyl trans help.

Will a trans from an 88 2.3L fit on a 1996 2.3L? Tried searching and it says they are the same model trans m5od-r1. But that model was used on 4.0 as well but different bellhousing. Any help would be appreciated

I believe if they were both RWD then yes. I don't believe the 2.3L in the FWD cars had the same pattern.

Alright thanks. I'm converting my 2wd 96 to 4wd and found a great deal on a 4x4 transmission
