Default 95 tahoe, cluster lights just stopped

yesterday driving home i go to hit the lights and everything comes on but the cluster lights, head lights work fine, as do the turn signals and all the idiot lights come on as well, i replaced the dimmer switch, checked all the fuses, pulled the cluster and checked connections/bulbs and all look fine, anyone have an idea what happened?

My guess is that it's your multifunction switch. In my 99, the switch went bad and made my rear tail lights and turn signals not work. Seems like everything runs through that stupid switch. Apparently the hazard portion of the switch shorts pretty easily. Everything I read said to push the hazard switch towards the front/driver side of the truck. As soon as I did that and held it there, my lights all worked. I replaced the the whole switch (pain in the ass) and all was well.

You're referring to the illumination lamps, correct? Do the lights work in any other part of the dash, like the radio or heater controls, etc? If not, its more then likely a problem with the dash dimmer control. If the dash lights do work in other areas, then the problem is limited to the instrument cluster and would be either in the cluster itself or in the connector or wiring right at the cluster.
