In turn, the guy across the street works really hard at cutting firewood but has a crappy chainsaw that keeps breaking. Maybe I would choose to give him my extra firewood. Why should the government have the power to take my extra firewood and give it to someone who really doesn't deserve it? There seems to be this opinion that those with money (the rich) stuff it under their pillow and hoard it. Many of them are huge charity donors.

The issue is having the choice to spend/give your money where YOU choose, not where the government chooses.
Yep. I completely agree.

But my main point is trying to get people to realize that right or wrong, some of those people ARE eyeing your trees. (well, probably not yours, more likely the guy with several thousand acres of trees, but they might get carried away and cut yours also). We can ignore them now, and wait until they fire up their chainsaws and try to fight them off then, or we can listen to them now, maybe give a little, and keep out trees intact without a physical fight. I think the latter is the wiser choice.

Well the appeasement of Hitler was more about Czechoslovakia than Poland. He just took Poland when they wouldn't give him what he wanted.

But I understand your point.

The question is, is it too late to stop the war. If it can be stopped, how, if it can't, how to minimize the damage and get a favorable outcome.

You recognize the problem, but your answer is more of the same?

It was ignored by the MSM for the first couple weeks. Not so on AM radio and you still wont hear a fraction of whats really going on there on the MSM.

I thinks there's a few reasons for that.

One, in many cases I have been trying to explain what I think the views of those protesters are, and people have mistaken it for my opinion. Is some cases they are the same, but not always. I seem to have what I've come to realize is a rather unique ability to understand other peoples point of view.

Also, I like to think of myself as an "extreme moderate". So I may seem to switch sides depending on who I am arguing with and what the topic is. I'll often pick up the point of view opposite the majority just for the sake of arguing. Maybe it's because I'm single and live alone so I don't have a wife or kids around to argue with.

And finally, I haven't really said what I think we should do about this problem.

I started to type up what I think needs to be done but I don't have time for it right now.

It's about joining together and speaking out about something you think needs to be changed. Now that the name "occupy (place name)" is becoming well known the actual location isn't important. Now it's about numbers. numbers of people and numbers of locations.

And I don't think they really want to "bring down" corporations, (well some probably do) as it is about getting those that run corporations to pay attention to the average American.

I don't know exactly but I've been rambling on for 4 pages about it. It seems to be more a "raise awareness" type to protest than a "make demand" type to thing.

I'm going to be in Downtown Detroit Sunday and if I have time I may go pay a visit to the "occupy Detroit" group.

First off they would be so much better off if they put this much effort into getting off their asses and going to get a job.

Second I was really hoping they would hose their asses earlier this week.

Sorry... I have very little sympathy for people who are busy being a victim.
