Default D44 Rubicon Axle

My front D44 Rubicon axle is leaking on both sides and out of the pinion seal. I plan on taking it apart and fixing the seals, but I was wondering what I should upgrade while its apart. I'm thinking about throwing alloy shafts in it. What brand should I buy? What else should I replace while its apart?

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on some axle shafts. Where's the best place to get them?

Thanks!

I went with the Ten Factory axles. Ten-year replacement warranty.

I was doing a re-gear anyway, so I took the opportunity to sleeve (internal and external), gussets, Riddler diff covers, ball joints and control arm skids.

Sounds like alot, but since there was no labor, it was a small fraction of what a PR44 would have cost.

I run the RCVs on my '98 TJ. They are a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for:

and the Yukon 4340 Chromo kit has a lifetime replacement warranty, and is about half the price of the RCVs, depending on which U-Joint you go with:

kit with Dana Spicer U-Joints
http://completeoffroad.com/i-123422-...kit-24154.html

kit with Yukon Super Joints

Hope this helps with your decision.

I've read a few places where people have had warranty issues with Yukon and someone else.

But I've read that the RCV's are truly no questions asked replacement.

Anyone else have feedback on it?

I handle all the warranty claims that come through here. Yukon is by far one of the quickest and easiest companies to deal with when it comes to warranty claims. The only stipulation in their lifetime warranty is that after the first replacement, they reserve the right to refund your money instead of sending new axle shafts (mainly to protect themselves from a guy running way too big of a tire on a given axle).

I haven't ever had to deal with a warranty claim with RCV so I don't have any experience with their warranty process. They are a little difficult to get on the phone sometimes, but overall they are great guys.

Thanks for the info. Maybe the posts I saw were people abusing the policy and not reading the fine print ahead of time.

Honestly it was probably a JK guy thinking it was ok to run 40's on a 44.
