get to it and do it! Im thinking it would be easier to do on a 6.5 turbo diesel. Should be alot less work and there are plenty of those blown up out there.

ya i agree. i would like to do it in a quad cab truck as well. i would also like a stick. i guess i gotta start watching to see whats out there for one. i just think i am to picky and would want a newer everyday diesel. much more comfy is all. i do alot of driving so i need a comfy truck.

yea the newer body style would be a sweet conversion i just couldnt swing it and didnt have time to wait around looking for a deal on one with a blown up motor.

I have been making steady progress on this got the wiring pretty much done, just have to wire up the dakota digital tack module to run my tach off the alternator, and wire up a timer to the heat grid. gonna try to use a volkswagen glow plug timer to cycle the heat grid for 20 seconds when the key is turned on. the volkswagen timer is the cheapest thing i could find for a timer, i have a 80 amp solenoid on the fire wall that the timer will switch on and off. I had the engine fired up just to check some of the wiring had a bunch of air in the fuel system and after being unsuccesful at bleeding it i finally found a air leak on the rubber line that hooks the pick up tube to the sending unit assembly, the hose clamp i used cut the rubber line so i put on a new piece of rubber hose and used a fuel injection hose clamp. Then the motor smoothed out and would rev up. Hoping to get the radiator, intercooler and piping all buttoned up and installed this weekend.

start of the wiring

all the wiring that i removed, didnt get a pic of the finished wiring yet but i will

i dont have any good places around to help with the ac fittings and hoses so i just welded the compressor fittings to what i had to get me going for now. i know its kind of hack but ohh well easy to change later. I used a accumulator from a 95 chevy for the different hose locations thinking they took the same hose fitting i was wrong to had to find the right fitting and get it crimped on my hose. Ac should be all done now when i get the core support and condenser back on.

car quest has a real fancy AC hose tool, the fittings are pricy though.

yea thats were i got some of the fittings but they did not have the big die to do one of the crimps so i had to go to napa. And as much as i think palmer is a good guy he was not much help with finding the fittings and i did not have the patience to dig thru the big book for very long.

Live in Bulldog country for awhile and worked between WP & Constantine while at Glen Oaks in the late 80's

Made some progress on the coolers today. Hit up my favorite yard for some assorted rubber mounts to mount everything, you cant beat a hand full of factory mounts for a couple of bucks. Hopefully tommorow can get the lower water necks fabed up and start on the intercooler pipping. Gotta get a fan blade too so i can makes sure it clears the radiator.
