Default S10 sas 2012 coming Zombie Assault Vehicle

So here is my intro and my rigs back story and what she has been and become. My name is Mike 32 and I live in the city of Fenton and work as a mechanic for past 12 years .

I obtained this poor beat down bagged stepside ext cab fully loaded 4.3 v6 with 40k , I traded po a 92 Honda Prelude si I traded without ever seening truck in person just pics from kid . Paid to flatbed my car to him and truck to me as truck was laying frame in sub zero weather. When I saw it rolling into my work I knew I had found my new project I love bring the disrespected autos back and giving them some pride. Hers she is after i rebuilt air ride and painted.

So I did all that all on my own and decided low and slow suck donkey balls. I always wanted to make old ranger a 302 powered 2wd dune runner. But I had a Chevy problem solved my dad gave me his 383 all brand new back up motor for Christmas.

So now I am no longer slow at this point I kept with a viper on freeway till my 700r4 ran out top end on a slammed 450hp with 2 stages of nitrous . I didn't want a drag truck I wanted something I never had delt with in my life have always been a import guy. So I lifted it 2wd on 31 10.5 15"s a body lift springs control arms and it rode even worse.

I figured it all out quit being a poser lifted trucks are 4x4's. So after my 1800.00 trans with 800 miles 3-4 were done in the TCI after been jerked around by them my wart will not cover damge. They said my motor overpowered it even though I had it custom built by them and was assured it would handle up to 600hp.

So this is how it sat till 2 months ago and I ended its poser status.

Rough list of what I got going on new build
35" 12.5" x15" BF Goodrich Mud Terrains
Dana 30 front axle disco delete yukon axles soa HP
Custom made leafs in front based on a wagoneer pack
I made my own front leaf hanger bar off my own take on Sky Fabs
Dana 35 rear upgrade axle shafts carrier trussed reinforced like a mofo yeah they suck but I spent the coin and my trucks a street queen
zr2 s10 leafs added leaf and zr2 frame mounts soa
Custom shackles hanger mounts all that by me I am not spending 50 for 15$ of metal
700r4 rebuilt by me corrected TCI mistakes and converted output shaft to 4x4 output and mated to a np233 manual shift

So more pics to come of all the new stuff and what going on.

Damn. I should've bought that 383 and saved you all the trouble!

Impressive amounts of work!

Well I have done a ton of work took some pictures and can't fine my upload cable. It has gone pretty smooth I got all the major welding done front bracket and shackle hangers are in. Made a bastard pack that keeps the springs arched out of front wrangler packs and and springs out of set of extra rear s10 packs I have had over the years.

My only question I guess I have is what to do about steering ? I know I need to get the BTF dana 30 hi steer bracket since I went soa I have read alot of the s10 sas use a astro steering box which puts pitman out front. Well I moved my front axle 3" forward for turning and not bashing tires into fenders and better approach angle. Well From what I can see this is going to put draglink out a goofy angle instead of being parrallel to axle looks like a possible bind issue. Any advice would be great other then getting a place to build axle I should be ready to roll soon before snow flys .

I run a D44 in my s10 full high steer and astro van box and I smashed in part of the drivers frame for rod end clearance. Looks like a well placed jungle gym of tubing under the oil pan. I was 2wd also when I started, I am not sure how much off hand I moved the axle forward but I had to contend with a total different motor setup that I barely can clear.

I stretched mine 3 inches or so and keep the factory cross member and used the stock box. For me using the astro box would have created a lot of extra work and would have put the steering way too far forward. I would pick up a couple of different pitman arms and see what works best for you. Any of the jeep arms will work and have a hole for a tie rod already in them rather than the s10 one with the built in tie rod. Also donít buy a drop arm, but rather use a stock xj, tj, cj, or zj arm, as they all have different drops and fit the spline of the s10 and astro box.

Yeah from what I have been mocking up I think if I go with heims to help with any binding issues the btf crossover upper bracket , cut off the front frame extension thats on the 2wd frames while still leaving cross member intact. I agree with my axle being forward 3"s the astro box is less attractive I may have to put a slight jog in drag bar but it is what it is.

My next deal is the more I have read about high hp and tq motors and big tires my built 700r4 still won't last very long so instead of blowing the grand i just spent rebuilding it I am going to sell and recoupe some money and swap over to a 4spd. I hate auto and a tci streetfighter out of the box lasted 1200 miles with my motor so screw that.

I kinda started this project after my tci's 3-4 took a dump i just need to find some motivation

S10 pitman arm and Astro pitman arm are not the same. The 2wd Astro is clocked different with my wheels straight I think it angles to the driver side a few degrees.

If you interested I have a Astro box you can have. It's bad drove 250 miles with no fluid the stock pitman is on it and is drilled out for bolt.

A shame to see 30/35 after all that work. Other than that, looks like a great project.

The Astro box makes steering on a SFA much easier if the axle is more than a couple inches forward. You may need to heat and bend the steering arm to clear the frame. Here's one I did a few years ago.

Thanks for the pics , The 30/35 is a temp setup till tax return time any advice on a stronger set of full size axles I could swap in my only thing is I want to stay drivers drop. I finally got a new shipment of parts I obtained a np241c from a 95 yukon swap input shaft from 32 spline to 27 spline. Got my new trans transfer case adapter and floor shifter out of 95 yukon and my high steer bracket from Blue torch fab nice work btw.

yes use to have a envoy front end and step side bed, bed floor was all cut out for c notch for air ride. Sold bed and built a new bed out off all new oem sheetmetal and put a sonoma front end on it.
