Talking Exo XMJ (WTF was I thinking?)

Got some tires mounted up to see how its going to sit. The front is on some short ass jack stands right now so the rear will settle down some when the weight is even. Rear bumper tacked, plated 12" of the frame so I had something to weld to. I'll be adding a 2" receiver to the bottom of the bumper. Still have a crap ton of work to do.

Small update, my steering is pretty much set up. Need to make some double sheer brackets and a spacer for the knuckle end of the drag link and it's all set. I've got WJ knuckles, 3/4-16 heims, 1-1/8" solid stock for links. I like the WJ style steering better than the stock style and the WJ brakes should work a lot better too.

Looks great turned to the pass side.

Hits on the pass leaf when turned to drive side. I'm going to make a spacer to go between the heim and knuckle and it should take care of the issue. I'm thinking 1" or less should do the trick.

Bumper is fully welded to the frame now. I didn't want a few bolts being the only thing holding it to the frame with the shackle mounts on the front now. It was a lot of tedious welding but I like doing a lot of smaller plug welds, seems to me that its stronger than the large holes that some people do with hole saws. More surface area covered I guess, my 2cents. I'll be adding a little more plate to the front uni-rails so nothing gets tweaked. Still have a lot to do, hoping I can have it done by fall now that I have my own garage to work on it in.

I had the shackles laying around from a long gone YJ project but I'm thinking that some aftermarket XJ shackles would have been a lot easier to set up. Oh well, they work. I made the shackle mounts my self and HVYRTFT helped me drill and tap the steering links at the shop he works at.

The tail gate I had ended up being a little more rotted out than I originally thought. I ended up just using the outer skin. I didn't really want to screw around with rigging it up to work when it's going to be mainly a trail rig anyway. Still picking away at it.

Uh oh! Doubler!
I'm so fucking ADD, I never get one thing done on this jeep before I start another!
Cut up this. Plate is just 1/4" steel, just need to bore it and add the bolt pattern for the other 231and weld up the numinum.

Modified this, turning it down sucked but milling the splines was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Just very time consuming.

Started the clearance hole with a 4.5" hole saw. I''ll get it closer later, just need to figure out how far I need to clock the bolt pattern before I drill any mounting holes. Shooting for as flat as possible on the underside.
