2000 Dodge Ram gearing?

I have a 2000 Ram 1500 that i have just put a lift on. It has the 5.2 in it. the truck now has 38" tires on it. now the truck cant get out of its own way. does anyone have suggestions for gearing?

Having owned a 1997 with the same driveline, I would look at 5.13s with the 318. If you had a 360, you might have been able to get away with 4.88s.

You'll also want to consider swapping in a different set of axles. Don't sink $ into the D44/9.25. Find someone selling a D60/D60 or D60/D70 combo from a 2nd-gen 2500 and swap it in. I believe there are actually a couple sets available in the Marketplace right now.

That will be either a D60/D70 or a D60/D80 combo and wider than what you want.

However, the 1999-up trucks will have the more desirable front brake configuration where you don't need to knock out the studs to get the rotor off.

The 2000.5-up D60 fronts will also be non-CAD. Ideally, that's what you want to target if you have the luxury of being picky.

your only options for gearing only go up to 4.88's on the 9.25.
i am currently running 37" GY MTR's with 4.88's, and it is about what it was like when it was stock.
the v8 2500 would have a 60 rear, the v10 and diesels have the 70 and 80.

I am not sure who is pushed for vendors on here, but i have always been happy with Randy's Ring & Pinion, with not only prices but also customer service.

If You're going to build and keep the truck you'd be better off going with dodge 3/4 ton axles. The swap is pretty easy. They come with 4.10 gears and they're way tougher, so it's a win win. By the time you change front and rear gears you're prolly looking at what a good $600 anyway.

I agreed with almost everything you said except for this, because it is not true. 4.10s were an option. Don't just assume that's what you're getting.

very un true the 4:10 ones are very hard to find.

also with a 5.2 and 38s 5:13 are the only way to go.

I know a guy with multiple sets in his garage right now. Start checking door jams if you think theyre so hard to find. Two of my buddys just got 4.10's in there 3/4 tons. I dont know where you guys are looking but theyre everywhere

Guess we're looking farther than our buddy's garage.

Nobody is saying they don't exist. They're just not what you should expect to find when they are the option and not the standard.

All this bs aside I made a phone call and can get you 4.10's or I believe 3.90's for your truck right now. Or D60's but theyll be a little more. PM me for prices might be able to ship the gears or you can pick them up in mt. pleasant. Didnt have to look any further than my budds garage.
