Cost are typically equivalent to the amount spent by the contestant.
Fee's are typically a portion of the amount paid back in the prizes.
Prizes are typically a 100 % payback of the fee's but never equivalent to cost
Classes are stock modified big and biggest. These classes are typically commiserate to cost.

Rules are as follows, the person who spent the most typically finishes in the lead, and the person who goes the fastest and finishes first typically wins a prize as established in the above cost / fee's / and prizes.

I was told by email that there are 4 classes (didn't get any more detail than that), its $25 on top of the fair fee of $20 ($45 total), trophy's for 1st-3rd NO CASH PAYBACK and ONE prize will be given to one of the four 1st place guys who's name will be drawn out of a hat.

This is what i was told so I'm going to pass cause it will cost me well over a hundred dollars with fuel if i bring my family with no chance of a any payback.

I think i will go to Manistee Fair Rock Crawl on Friday night, 100% payback plus 1/2 of what they take in for pit fees

IMO you can't make your event money off of the drivers....they are the ones who draw the crowds

for those of you that go have fun

If my info i incorrect someone please let me know as i like to compete....

I've notice some events are trying to make an extra dollar off the drivers this year, that's a cardinal sin in the 4x4 world. These guys build, modify, tweak, fix, repair, all out of their own pocket, not to mention the cost in fuel to drive to your event, this is a huge cost to the drivers and what do they get, a plastic trophy! Time to rethink. 100% pay back plus trophies should be the norm! I was just over in Millington where in addition to the 100% payback they put huge bounties on each class, some of the fastest, biggest, and baddest trucks around were there.
I hope this is not the case as was said above about the badazz truck expo. Heard all good things about it in the past.

Funny thing is they used to pay money back to the mud guys but to many people cried about mud guys getting payed and not anyone else. So they fixed that and now no one gets paid. I thought that the $25 fee got me into the fair and let me run. I guess I did not realize it was going to be $45 total. That will make me think it over a while longer. Really wanted to test the new jeep out there though and not go all the way cross state to get my ass kicked.

Was only $25 last year and no payback, but I won a locker that I sold for $300. Was worth it and a good time imo. There wasn't another run the same weekend though last yr

x2 on price and the fact that it's always been a good time. $25 let's you enter one or all of the events for one price. So, for $25 you can run the Rock Crawl, do the burn out contest, do the tug of war, race in the dirt drags and enter in the mud bog (not sure if there is an extra charge for the show-n-shine)
Cheap for a weekend of fun (obviously not including the ever painful cost of gas to get there and fixing your junk after you break it, etc....)

Yes, they definitely should work on having a higher entry fee so that they can have some kind of payout, that's the only way they're going to get more participants which then turns into more spectators which turns into more money for everybody...win - win.

OK so if I go and do the mud run it is $25 and not $45? If you see a gaudy blue CJ 5 with flames stop and say Hi. Maybe I will be there maybe not. I am not to good at making plans in advance.

$45 denny, atleast last year. You paid the general admission to the fair, then paid in addition to enter an event. But there was only one fee for the events so pay that and you can run one or all for the same price.

I agree, I attended last year, didn't even know it was happening till I got an email Sunday night for it.

$45 is what I thought it probably was. Still might just take a drive over that way and make a run.
