It has been a few years since I have travelled to Canada for work, so things may have changed. Although I know of many co-workers who still travel there and say it has not changed.

I never needed a work permit to attend meetings in Canada. I always stated that is what I was doing and was passed through. Funny, even with a van full of computers I still did not need a work permit as I was simply taking them to a plant in the Greater Toronto Area on a temporary basis. I did have to go through customs with all the proper paper work for the equipment, but no work permit.

The only ytime I did get a work permit was when I was travelling to Windsor every day for almost a month in order to move and engineering group from an existing facility to a new facility. Company paid all expenses of course.

Did you make it back? From what I've heard it's the U.S. that's the anal one when it comes to letting it's citizens back into their own country.

Going camping when on vacation and going to a meeting when it's for work. Never had any problem in over 25 years. Despite what anyone might tell you it's all about profiling also. If you look shaky, you're going to get nabed! If you can't look them in the eye, or a shaking when handing your passport to them, or fumble for answers....all triggers.
If you're driving a suspicious looking vehicle or ones that are large enough to holds a big BOMB you'll get pulled over also. I've had the motorhome X-rayed 3 times now in the last 3 years in addition to a Canadian OPP DOT inspection twice.

As far as plates go....Yep we know all about plates don't we!

I have not seen you.

Is it because your head is shaped like a foot ball and flaps open and shut when you talk?

No, then they would think I was a native Canadian and let me in.

Let's just say I tend to creep people out and leave it at that.

If you have insomnia (your avatar indicates you may) then watching my life is the cure.

I'm really kind of dull.

Air Canada sux ballz too.

Foookin hooptie prop plane broke down at the gate, we had to get off.
Total time from my house to Toronto- 8 hours.
Sitting in Vancouver airport waiting for the flight to Nanaimo, it's been a long day. Oh- they lost my luggage too. Who's brilliant idea is getting your bags at the first stop, and then schlepping them to the connector flight? You don't leave a secure area, and if anyone were to put something in your bags under the old system, it would have to be baggage handlers. My damn bag didn't even make it to Toronto.

You were lucky to get back into the States if you had mud on your heep Erin... I know of people that were turned back because they had a little left over loam stuck in the grooves of their bedliner in the truck... Of course it wasn't the Customs that went freak nasty on them it was Dept of Agriculture or some bullshit... It was a woman... and she pulled the full PMS nasty freak-out on them... Apparently our dirt is different than your dirt...

Exactly, we will take thousands of tons of your garbage to dump in our landfills, but we draw the line at loam.

That depends. Are you digging by hand or using a jackhammer?
