Default truck feels really sluggish after 55 mph

Ok so I plan on using this 1991 f150 351 and I believe a c6 tranny for a daily driver during winter once I get a few quirks worked out of it but I'm worried it won't do to good at highway speeds. I got going on a long strait back road and after about 50 or 55 mph the truck didn't wanna accelerate very fast at all, like I had the pedal down and it seemed it took all it got to get up to 60. I know the kid I got it from put a new rear end in it and I'm not sure of the gearing. I thought it could be the transmission cause it feels like its trying to accelerate at the bottom of a gear. And also the trans slips into second pretty hard when I get on it a lot.
Anybody know what it could be? I'm lost

How did it feel shifting into 3rd? with that combo it should have plenty of power, but with the c6 and no overdrive 65 is the very max i'd drive it for long stretches.

Trans shifts smooth into every gear besides second, sometimes it even shifts smooth into second.

I'm not sure about the motor. The kid told me its from a cube van and its got 85000 miles on it. It seems to do alright uo until about 45 mph...
