Default Attention all TEA party haters

In the interest of full discloser I have no official stand for or against the tea party. only that they have a right to free speech like any one else. Having said that, ARE YOU FOR OR AGAINST THE TEA PARTY? WHY? I hear plenty of derogatory terms used for them but no explanation. would love to hear from the haters. help me out here.

I am a constitutionalist. The tea party is heading in the right direction, but have a long road to hoe. It going to take republican presidency, and them to fukc up like Obama has done for them to hit the ground running. They wont take off for another 12-16 years imho.

Has nothing to do with it. The idea is that both parties are corrupt and we need to get back to 'the constitution".

I don't mind them. It is a movement that is doing good things but alot of people involved aren't very educated. IMO, at least. Alot of it is fueled by TV/Radio show hosts and thier ideas that they pass onto thier listeners.

the tea party from an outside observer seems like a band of thieving retards with no leadership or public speaking skills...

How can you get a liberal to jump in a volcano? <insert joke about a teacher or public figure doing something religious inside the volcano> I'm not feeling creative tonight.

Basically, they're idealists and I'm a pragmatist. They believe in picking an ideology and sticking to it regardless of the outcome. I believe finding what works and doing more of it. The number 1 ideal I want my politicians to stick to is to do what's best for the country.
Their main ideal seems to be not to raise taxes at all. For the past 10 or so years the taxes on the wealthy are quite low compared to other times in our history. I keep hearing people say that low taxes on the wealthy helps the economy and yet here we are struggling to come out of the worst recession since the great depression. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer, and most the middle class is sliding closer to the poor. In short, it's not working. Also, at other time in our history when things happened that required the government to spend money, like fight wars, taxes were raised to help pay for it. We didn't do that for our latest set of wars, we just kept borrowing from China. Now, the Tea Partiers want to pay for it by cutting every government program to the bone, which will affect the poor much more than the rich. The rich will keep getting richer, the poor keep getting poorer. While as a capitalist it's easy to say "too bad, they can work harder or starve", It's not good for the long term stability of the country to have a big divide between rich and poor.

And it's better long term for our country to keep these people on some sort of government dole?
Lowering taxes is a great idea, but what also must happen is less spending.
Most of our federal programs, or all of them, should be cut to the bone. Help only those that can't help themselves. Even that should be done at a local level, not federal. Much easier to keep track of the money and avoid fraud.

It's only because of the Tea Party that our current government is in such a mess right now, and thank god it is. If not, it would just be more of the same old bullshit.
Like them or not, at least the issue of debt is being discussed.

The primary goal of every government dole should be to get people off it. But I'm not just talking about that. Just about every cut in government programs, be it welfare, or education, recreation, transportation, military, etc. will dis-proportionally affect the poor more than the rich. Having large numbers of people broke with nothing to do will not be good for the country.
