Slightly related... the guy that runs The Union recently bought the old Vinsetta Garage building on Woodward in Berkley and will be opening another restaurant there.

The Union was ok, i felt like a popped collar douchebag going in there, even without a collar. It's been 6 years since i was there though.

Clarkston was abuzz Thursday morning as a familiar vintage 1967 Lincoln Continental drove down M15 to the Clarkson Union restaurant.

Kid Rock emerged from his ragtop Lincoln as Food Network cameras rolled, capturing his arrival to meet spiky-haired chef Guy Fieri, who stepped out of his classic 1968 red Camaro Super Sport. The two chatted, then walked into the Union, where more footage was shot for Fieri's show "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives."

The cable show features Fieri visiting one-of-a-kind local eateries around the U.S., chatting with regulars about each joint and debriefing the chef about signature dishes.

The show will air in about six months, when presumably we'll get to see Rock talking about his favorite Clarkston Union dishes as Fieri samples the fare.

We can only hope that Rock will also rattle on about the wild wedding reception he and Pam Anderson held there in 2006.

Both lanes of M15 were closed for the shoot, which happened at midday and involved about 30-40 crew members. Rock signed autographs for fans, and he really did drive the vintage Lincoln in from his pad in nearby Ortonville. Fieri, on the other hand, merely acted as if he drove the Camaro in along the dusty byways. His car was trailered in, and the overly moussed chef got in and pretended he'd just driven in from California.

Reportedly, Fieri was also seen at the Polish Café in Hamtramck on Monday, and was due to return there Friday.

Don't get me wrong, I will eat me some sausage platters and shop burgers all day long. But the way it was portrayed to me had me thinking it would be the GREATEST place ever...

The best thing I experienced at the shop was hanging out with Kid Rock and Chelios, pounding shots of Red Stag.

I have never cared for the Union, especially since they recently fucked over some employees. (rumor has it........ where's PJ?) The Woodshop is not all that great and I wish the old original Clarkston Cafe was still there. But, with Kid Rock being a local and hyping it I'm sure it will get more buzz than it should.

I've eaten there a couple times and I really liked it. 4 out of 5 stars for me.

The Union was better when Chris was tending bar downstairs. But that's been a few years, it's still my favorite place to get a beer. They have hands down the best beer selection around Clarkston, 30+ beers on tap and most are micro brews.

The Woodshop BBQ is pretty good too, cool enough atmosphere and also great beer selection.

I eat at the union three to four times a month, and I love that place. The food is different, but it is very good.

I have issues with the woodshop, and I will never go there again because of the service. But from talking with others, I guess we just happened to hit it at a bad time when they were understaffed. That was the first time we went there for dinner, however we have went to the woodshop many times for scotch without issue, but that needed very little interaction from the waitstaff.
