33's and 37's can run either class?
How about:

31"-34"
35"-39"
40" on up

or

35" and under
36"-42"
Unlimited

or (the best, but might be too many classes)

31"-33"
34"-36"
37"-40"
41" on up

We're totally open to suggestion on this, so thanks for the input.
The latter of the two looks like a pretty good suggestion.
I don't think it's to many classes, but we'll have to see what kind of turnout we have, and tweek it if needed?
I'll take it to the Pit Trash Crew, & post something up soon.
Thanks.

Default Course Layout for the shootout.

Here's the course for Saturday's Open Class 2011 Pit Trash Shoot Out.
This will be modified a bit for Sunday's Sportsmans Class, but will still take place in the same area.

Going to be some big time speed on the back side, but no mud. That pond is now the drag strip. We try not and do to much mud unless it rains that weekend.

Not going to be to wide open, you're still going to have to get through the tuff stuff, plus some new stuff, some fluffed up stuff, and some stuff we haven't built yet.
It's gonna be good, I can assure you of that!

But is the plan to still modify the course for the Sportman rigs?

I think it would be wise to make sure the course is at least easy for most of the Sportsman rigs to finish. It would be better to see it come down to a bunch of trucks getting thru it and go by times instead of a bunch of trucks breaking and timing out {45min max time} burning up everybodies time...Im betting you will have a very large turn out for the Sportsman class on Sunday and if racing dont even start till almost noon I could see how 3 or 4 trucks having problems could eat up daylight and possibly mean that not everybody would get on the course before the end of the day.

We're one step ahead of ya on that one.
Yes, we will have select bypasses throughout the course for the Sportsman's Class.
Things like the Tire Pit, and Warn Valley will be bypassed so we do not have trail carnage on Sunday.
Sunday is still going to be good challenging for all that compete. Our intentions are to have a fun, offer a good challenge, and not to destroy rigs.
If you want to see that, be there on Saturday!

One more question. If you have say 20/30 rigs Sunday will you release the rigs every 10/15 minutes or how will that work? If it's going to be one at a time (every 45 minutes) it will make for a looong day if you have a big turnout.

Thanks for your patience with all the questions.

Thanks for your patience with all the questions.

We have been doing test runs, and will continue to do so all week. We are going to average out our times, then figure out the start intervals from there. Looking at 10/20 minute starts right now. I hope we have so many rigs Sunday that we have to make a mad max style dash out of it. The first 3 survivors take it all! (kidding) The Sportsman's Class will not be as intense as last years Open Class Run. You should be able to get through it in good time with out getting all balled up. The point is to make this something that's doable, and not impossible for the average wheeler that has never competed. It's not going to be a fluff run either, but not as quite as crazy as Saturday's stuff. Your'e going to know you've just ran something really awesome when you're done with your pass.

Not a problem at all, we appreciate the questions, it's only going to make the event better if we've missed something.
Hope to see you and Mama out running Black Betty on Sunday. Bring the club, friends, family, and all the kids from the neighborhood!
