are most vehicles able to make it without winching, or is there a point where 95% of the rigs are winching?

This is for the Open Class:
We watched one rig blast through the whole course w/o a winch last year. (he also finished 33rd in KOH this past year)
But......on his "mulligan run" he was wishing he had a winch, because he got hung up and couldn't get the rig off a big rock.
Ended up in last place, from 2nd because of it.
I can't remember any other rig making it through the whole course w/o using a winch at some point.
Hi-Lifts, come allongs, ratchet straps all count if they are being used safely.
Your call on a winch, but remember that you only have 45 minutes to finish the course before you'll time out.

For the Sportsman Class:
You should be able to make it through that modified course w/o a winch, unless something really goofy happens to you along the way.
But, then again you might need one?

You'll want a winch!

I plan on being up there this year. . . time will tell if we compete again this year. I am VERY likely to run the Sportsman Class with Black Betty.

Sad but true. . . LOL. I just hope she doesn't make me wear the shirt that says "I'm the Bitch" and she's gonna wear the "Yes, he's my bitch" shirt.

I think the better idea will be for her to run with a girl friend and me with a buddy. Doing a boys vs. girls sort of thing.

Can you give a minimum tire size needed to run the sportsman class?

31's would be the min for running in the Sportsman Class.

We're working on finalizing the classes for the Sportsman's Run. It's going to be by tire size, and it's going be fair for every rig that enters.
Someone on 31's won't be running up against someone on 44's. (Unless they want to?)
We really want this to be about having a good time, and some friendly competition.
We are working on fine tuning the rules for the Sportsman Class right now, and will have something posted up real soon.

Thanks.

something like that. There's quite a few spots/trails that are washed out that can put you on your side. (this is a pic of Knaffie from last year)
