I'm not ashamed of it, just don't like it hanging over my head. Between my wife and I we pay more in student loans each month than we do rent.

I appreciate the flattery, but if you did not say stupid things, or make ironic posts, or have terrible logic or the complete inability to actually make AND support a point, I'd not have much to say to you.

Carry on, I am glad to see that there is "some" enforcement of brdige card users, I think the whole system should be tossed.

I kind of see it from another point of view. My girlfriend has ciliac(sp?) which means she can not have wheat so basically everything at the dining hall she could not have, so NMU allowed her to move out of the dorms. She does have a job but that just covers her rent, her parents claim her as a dependent but do not help out much with money and they make too mcuh for her to get financial aid. her food gets very expensive when you can only buy certain things. with her bridge card she was actually able to buy enough food, sure she could live off a couple of certain cheap things but that would not be healthy at all. I am hoping that she can get it back considering she has an actual disease and is in school.

If she is in true financial need she will be one of them who gets it back.

Student loans, not welfare. Financial aid takes forms other than grants and handouts. Her education is not MY debt to bear. Having a medical condition or food allergy doesn't change that.

A few weeks back, I'm in the IGA in Mackinac City and the douche ahead of me is getting steaks, gatorade, Heinekens, and snack foods. Pays with a bridge card (and an Amex) and then takes the IGA shuttle back to his boat at the marina. He was "up from the Detroit area, taking a few weeks to cruise to Chicago and back"....

Wow - poverty includes boat trips and Amex cards. I'm doing something wrong.

What ever happened to Ramen noodles and Gobels beer? That's what we had to live off from back in the 80's while going to college. It was a major part of the college expierience.
Of course back then, a lot of people were too proud to except food stamps.

..............once a week, I would splurge and buy 12 hamburgs from "Get-um-Gag"

no, she has no right to have one.

college students are poor because they are paying for college, because they chose to better themself, that does NOT entitle them to a bridge card.

NMU Graduate.

Marquette has some good gluten free stores, my GF is gluten intolerant and has been checking them out, we'll be up there this week.

Duffman I was behind two nasty rank disgusting hippies in the grocery store the other day, they had purchased all of the higher priced (espescially at this store) organic hippy food items, steaks, sushi, etc. She paid for some of it on her bridge card (it was maxed) and then hippy boyfriend paid for the rest, he pulled a WAD of cash out of his pocket to find a $10 to pay the balance, I watched him dig through about $6,000 worth of 50's to get to it......

I dunno about all ya'll but if you can carry $6,000 in your pocket, you can get the fukc off the bridge card, regardless of circumstances.
