all i did was open the box.

GenRight said the best they could do is $50

Restocking fees are pretty normal. We've paid as much as 50%. It doesn't sound like much work but there is an up front cost that doesn't get covered when you order the item and then the second time around when you send it back. Then add in that some customers (like me) don't want to accept a shipment if it doesn't have original packaging. (all depends on what it is)

Spintech mufflers also does a 25% restock fee. I ended up selling them myself. Seriously a rediculous cost imo

their fault or yours? im just asking because we just implemented a restock fee at work because of the overwhelming amount of parts being returned

I can see why the restock fees are there. The company has to pay an employee to take the tech and sales call, pick your order and then ship it. Once returned they have to pay another employee to inspect the package, add it back into inventory and put it back into stock. All the time the employees spend costs the company money because they made no profit on the sale...

On another note, if it was their mistake I retract my previous comment...

If they even shipped it themselves and didn't have the item dropped shipped from another source.

just to clarify, i am NOT bashing GenRight. they have good products and every time i have delt with them in the past was a top notch transaction.
maybe il call back tomorrow, maybe not.
i'm not that guy that buys parts to just to see if they will work. sometimes shit happens.

Which means they are getting hit with a restock and passing it along to the consumer...

I just wasn't sure how common this is as its the first time anyone has ever charged me a restocking fee.

years ago, before the internet and razor-thin profits, this wasn't a problem. you can thank 'competition' for this.
