Default Ghetto train to Birmingham?

I honestly can't see as how allowing whatever exists below 8 mile $.50 access to Birmingham would benefit anyone living there.

Quote:
Supporters say extending the rail north would connect it to suburban hot spots, including downtowns in Royal Oak and Birmingham; boost property values and redevelopment, and raise crucial suburban support for a plan that, so far, has stayed within city limits.
Because property values are soaring within the city limits....

Quote:
The Oakland group has hired a consulting firm to study how cities from Ferndale to Birmingham may prepare for potentially transformative redevelopment along Woodward.
My first step in preparation would be police mini-stations at each stop with guarded check points...

Quote:
Southern Oakland County communities are looking for a game changer to spur redevelopment.

And they are looking to Detroit.
The fukc they are... The only development we need is a wall along 8 mile.

Quote:
The idea: expand the Motor City's planned light rail line north to encourage redevelopment along Woodward into the suburbs.
Really? Have ya been down Woodward lately? By redevelopment do they mean burned out buildings and crack whores on every corner like south of 8 mile?

Ok...I'm done...I think its time to move farther north again.

Lol

Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson said he would support expanded transit if voters are willing to pay to subsidize the system through a regional tax.
And we get to pay to bring the shit into our midst.

bwahahahaha, hahaha, ha, hahahahaha, ha-ha.

That's what you get for living in yuppie suburbia, you get all the trendy of being close to the city, and now you also get all the trendy of dealing with the cities garbage.

Enjoy, I'll continue to deal with my shitty commute just a little while longer.

OK I'm trying to think positive:

Wealthy people, by Detriot standards, riding a train to Detroit for work? Likewise, those from Detroit, let's just say, not as wealthy, riding the train to the suburbs for groceries and goods and some nightlife.

Sounds like the beginning of a the writings for a great script, or at least the obituaries or police column 2015 Edition.

If it really can help boost Detroit's economy, I see that as a win.

I live close enough that if this ever became a reality, I'd be able to walk or bike to any likely stop in Birmingham and I would absolutely love to see this come to fruition... but I'm not going to hold my breath.

I know quite a few people who live in Royal Oak, Huntington Woods, and Birmingham and work downtown or the New Center areas and take the SMART bus to work everyday and imagine that if this line ever got off the ground, it could have some pretty good ridership numbers.

Of course, I'm a damn hippy liberal (and getting more and more liberal as I get older) and me and all my friends work in community development, non-profit, and urban planning type jobs so we're just the type of idiots who would love to see this.

There's some good possibilities if it does become reality.

I live in the suburbs and in my opinion racism is still extremely strong where I live. When a black family moves into a white neighborhood, white people and other races move out. There is one street with one black family living on it and 12 out of 20 houses are for sale. They are all the homes near the black family. Its very funny! Personally I dont mind african americans as long as theyre not ghetto and loud. I would hate that train near me though

it's not color, it's cultural. when an educated black person moves in generally people might raise an eyebrow, but they don't flee in droves.

when any color moves in, and the culture of that person includes ignorance, flashiness and inconsiderateness of the typical wigger/n!66er then yes, people move out.

I have an elderly african american neighbor behind me, retired medical professional. I would much rather have 3 more of her in the neighborhood than the white highschool drop out punk next door with 4 misdemeanors and probable future felonies, or the white ex-con, addict living across the street from them that required a SWAT Team and a tank 2 years ago.
