Default 4L80E Trans Problems! HELP!!!! shifitng too soon

i have a 4l80e trans in my 96 2500 4x4 suburban, the trans shifts into overdrive someitmes from first gear, then when you let off the gas and get into the gas harder it will shift back into first and shift normal if you floor the gas pedal!, other times the truck shifts perfectly normal, also i can manualy shift the trans with the shifter on the column and it shifts perfect, no slipping or hard shifts, PLEASE HELP!!! this is so annoying!

Mine did the same thing. I was told 4l80's are known for that. I had tranny tom put a shift kit in mine. Holds first just fine now.

I've heard they are a pain in the ass because of the electronics, but never heard a single person say they are a pos before. Usually hear quite the opposite, that they are quite bulletproof.

Liking mine just fine right now.

I think the 4l80 is actually pretty stout, the only thing I've seen common with 80's is the reverse band going out, usually in plow trucks.
