Ive run both of these mufflers on a 5.7 vortec, with shorty headers and true duals.Imo the 44's are to loud for every day street driving.

i love flowmasters, but on the 4.6 and 5.4 trucks there raspy, i had one on my 97 expy 5.4 and it rattled like a damn ricer. i had long tubes and 3 inch pipe, that could have been part of it. it was not all that loud but i just cant take the rattle. now i went to a 50 series and that sounded really good, my buddy runs dynomax ultraflo i think they are and they sound really good. thats on a 4.6 with long tubes. now i am running the thrush welded and like it alot, its a flowmaster knockoff.

Youtube soundbytes SUCK. I can't tell the difference between a 40,44,50,69, whatever.

I will say I have super 44's on my 66, and they sound awesome. I recorded a vid/sound sample - but it sucks:
