Default Tawas beach question

We went to Tawas City beach for the day. We were on the north side of the old city pier. The layout is perfect but the shore has more rocks than we cared for. Is there a public beach around there without so many rocks?

The East Tawas beach does not have many rocks that I recall? IIRC it had all the stuff kids can climb on. It has been a long time since I was there though. My parents have a place on a lake about 10 miles from there.

Just go a little further up to the point. The beach by the light house is nice, and the water stays about thigh to waist deep for what seems like 1/2 a mile out.

Yeah either stop right when you come into East Tawas by the marina, or a little bit farther in town there is the park you were at.

There is also the state park if you follow 23 up out of town to the north and make a right by Big Boy and follow that all the way out to the end of the point.

After the kids were done swimming we took a ride through East Tawas and out to the lighthouse but it was just a scouting mission, we didn't get out of the Jeep at the point. There is a park in East Tawas with a wooden playscape that looked cool too. Next time we will have to check out the beach right next to the lighthouse. It was a super relaxing/recharging day. I recommend it to all, even if it's only a day trip!

the state park beach is really nice. I dont know if they have a day use area though. Great for kids because it never gets very deep. The point out beyond the lighthouse is really cool.
