Default West Michigan Machine shop's?

Who are you guy's using in West Michigan? I'm talking about people who know what a torque plate and line bore are, and don't want 1300 to machine a bare block.

One I can think of is RPM Engine in Jenison. They've been around a few decades. I've heard no bad about them. They deal a lot with different types of race engines.

Performance Engineering does a great job at a fair price.

Holland Automotive Machine does nice work for a decent price. Tell Dan that Tim with the big ZJ sent you down there.

Baker is good in Spring Lake- but very expensive for basic machining. Their dyno is great though!

Usually they do, I've known a few people who've brought engines there. My friend had them do the machine work on his Ford 5.0 block. All went well until he put it together, installed it in the car and started it. They forgot to put some plugs back in the block and it shot oil all over his freshly painted engine and engine bay. He did a great job on the paint and the motor looked awesome. It was on the receipt and he was charged for the parts/labor. He was nice about it given the circumstances. They handed him the parts and said sorry. He ended up installing them himself. Not sure if they gave him any money back.

No matter where you go, make sure to check what they said they did.

That really surprises me with them, but unfortunately everyone makes mistakes. On the other hand, if they only did machine work it's hard to hold them responsible...

Amen, as a machinist myself, I never trust anyone else's work. That's why I asked, I've had some bad experiences where my idea of "Blueprinting" and the shops were radically different. I'll be damned if I'm gonna let Bubba take a round file to my bores and call it blueprinted lol.
