Fully loaded supercrew with all the bells and whistles including leather and ecoboost is just under $37k without tax. 0% from ford right now makes it more appealing to me then the ram. Off to price out the equivalent in the ram, minus the boost.

I was at the Detroit Auto Show 2011 when they tore down the Ecoboost v6 after all the tests and doing the Baja 1000. Which ended up being 100k+ hard miles. Needless to say the engine looked great on the inside, hardly any wear that would normally be associated with an engine ran that hard. I was very impressed. As I recall they ran it on the dyno before they tore it down and it put up factory numbers. I don't think they was any argument that Ford stole the show.

I've heard great things from people who drive them and tow with them. That engine coupled with their anti-sway trailer technology makes for a great package.

that sounds like a great price for a fully loaded supercrew. I say skip the Dodge and get the Ford.

guy at work has 180,000 miles on his, I think it's an 05 and he just did the plugs on it last month. He didn't know the service life of plugs on a hemi is 40,000 miles He was very happy to double his gas mileage in 2 hours.

never had a problem with anything on it.

4mpg became 8?

Beyond the Cummins I don't think the Dodges are known for their outstanding fuel economy.

A coworker with a Ram / MDS Hemi could get 17mpg highway.

Are ya saying it like its a good thing?

That's like saying I'm skinnier than steveo or I don't like the cock as much as Skooter. Either way, its still not a good thing.

True, for prior engines old 4.7L, and old HEMI, and old platforms and old transmission configurations.

The 2011MY/2012MY , now including 4.7L, all get 20MPG HWY. So while they don't have the highest single MPG HWY, all of the Dodge RAM engines (including Cummins) get 20MPG. A vast improvement from where they were. The 5 speed is now a 6 speed, I say that with hesitation, as it's arguable what truly is a 6 speed. So they are on par, with all mfg now. Of course everyone rates them 4x2 and downhill with a tail wind. The wife get's 20MPG no problem in my 2009 HEMI Crew 4x4, I can't seem to get past 19 and change.

On the subject, I'm intrigued to drive this new sixxer. I like that they are offering it and it's working. It will only push everyone else to try and one up them.

I have owned an 03 and 04 Hemi 4x4 trucks. The 03 hemi was a 2500 and actually wasnt bad after I put a whole new front suspension in it, took dash completely apart to fix HVAC problem. The 04 1500 was a different story. Biggest POS truck I have ever owned. I bought it with 5k miles on it, and sold it with 37k on it. After the 10th time to the dealership I sold it.

I have 3 buddies with 09+ hemi 4x4 1500s which are supposed to get great fuel mileage......they do on the lie-o-meter but when you hand calculate they all get around 15mpg on highway. With that being said the new ecoboost wont get 21mpg on Michigan Highways.

i give alot of respect to ford for throwing this on the market i wish i still had auto classes so i could rip one apart but honest like yea thats great it looks brand new when they rip it apart. of course it does its a brand new engine. needless to say it was ran 150000+ in a months time no normal person will do that and there for you dont get the effects from people who dont take care of the car dont do the oil changes filter changes and let build up happen. there are way to many variables in the equation. i dont feel like they are being specific enough. i do know though that an engine thats 10 years old with 100000 on it isnt going to look new when you put it next to something thats only been put of the plant a few months. stress test or not.

slightly off topic, but is it true that the ecoboost success killed the chance of getting a 1/2ton diesel from ford.
