Default Looking for gun opinions

Been thinking about getting a hand gun, have shot a few different ones and seem to like the feel of the Ruger SR9c. Its mostly just going to be a range gun, but will probably become a carry weapon later on. Anyone have one? Care to share opinions?

Is there one? I browse on my phone, so I generally only go to the pub. Feel free to move it.

A friend of mine has one that I have shot a few times. He loves it. Seems to be a decent gun. The guy at the gun shop yesterday didn't have anything bad to say about them either. The range officer said he hasn't seen any issues with them either.

My brother in also in the market for a pistol. This is at the top of his list.

See my suggestions in this thread:
glock 36 review - Great Lakes 4x4. The largest offroad forum in the Midwest

Lots of good, compact 9mm's out there. I'm partial toward the Glocks, but the SR9c seems to get good reviews from those who have them. I dont like the thumb safety, its in an awkward position for me, and I dont own Ruger products on principle.

I'd really look at the Glock 19. As far as I'm concerned, it is THE all around, jack of all trades 9mm on the market. It is the perfect balance of size, capacity, accuracy, etc. I carry mine all the time in a Crossbreed Supertuck Deluxe wearing just shorts and a T-shirt.

When the SR9's were released, there was a recall because the pistols could fire if dropped. That is the only issue I have heard of, other than people not liking the ergonomics.

imo, price vs warranty, Keltec isn't bad. I like mine for a range, EDC ect. If I scratch it, trash it, i don't feel bad.. it's only a 250 ~ 300 dollar gun.

Mine is a cheap piece of shit. Its been reliable, but its become VERY loose in the 500ish rounds I have put through it. It lives in my bathroom now.

I liked my Keltec 9mm when I had it. It was just hard to shoot. Seemed to have way too much recoil for a 9mm. But then again it did fit in the palm of my hand.

I wouldn't want to shoot that for very long. But I didn't have any problems with it.

If I was to buy a gun that was not going to be carried I would look into another.

Yep they are cheap, hence why they have to have a decent warranty. I've put over 3000rds through mine, and have just had to replace the take down pin. Call Keltec, tell them what you need to tighten it up, and they will send it to you. Some people love them, some people hate them.

vote here for SR9c, I have one and I like it. Best thing is just go for a gun that fits you best. I shot a few different guns at Silver bullet firearms here in Gr. I found the SR9c to fit me the best.

I have fired most hand guns and it depends how much you want to spend. The best handgun for accuracy, feel and function out of the box is the SIG P229. But the $800 price tag makes it intimidating.
S&W Great revolves, so-so pistols
SIG Very good to outstanding pistols (us made P250 is not as good as European models)
Glock Good pistol for the money, but trigger and accuracy are average at best
Ruger generally average
Colt some good and some average
Browning Good to very good

I shoot a Glock 17 gen 4 I like it, I have also shot a S&W M&P 9mm I like that gun too. Best place I found is the Firing Line over in westland, Ford rd and hix. They rent just about every gun they sell. So you can shoot all kinds of different guns, and find one you like before you buy. Really good prices too!! I had my mind set on a M&P....till I shot a few different guns all on the same day and ended up with the glock.

S&W Great revolves, so-so pistolsI disagree. The M&P is an exceptional pistol, many Police Departments are moving away from the Sigs and Glocks for the M&P.
SIG Very good to outstanding pistols (us made P250 is not as good as European models)Agree. P250 is awful. Worst trigger on any pistol I have ever pulled.
Glock Good pistol for the money, but trigger and accuracy are average at best Being that Glock is the most popular competition pistol for action shooting, they are more than just "average" when it comes to accuracy. Its not uncommon for a box stock Glock to shoot 2" to 3" at 25 yards from a ransom rest, which is fantastic for a combat pistol.
Ruger generally average I dont own Ruger products.
Colt some good and some average Colt makes a good 1911, but I think there are better options for the money.
Browning Good to very good Hi Powers are fantastic pistols, but you certainly pay for them. Not really a good carry pistol.

I went with the Gen4 on my G26 as well. LOVE it.

Ruger autopistols are usually good and their revolvers are the standard, but FF does not like them because of some politics during the early 90's. I have 3 ruger revolvers and i will not ever sell them.

I like the 229, it shot nice, but like mentioned its a little out of my price range. Ill put some more rounds through the Ruger to make sure I like it. The M&P is also on the list, but haven't tried one out yet.

I am not a fan of the M&P, but thats just my opinion. The sig p220 is second to none in the pistol world, its next on my list.
