Default Holy crap!

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- "Police say a driver hit a child on a Grand Rapids street, then was stabbed by someone at the scene.

The accident happened around 7:30 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of Spencer St. NE, just east of Plainfield Ave.

A watch lieutenant says a driver hit a three-year-old child Spencer St. The child is in life-threatening condition at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital.

After the accident, the driver was stabbed by someone, possibly a relative of the child.

The stabbing suspect ran to a nearby house, but was soon arrested by Grand Rapids Police.

The driver is at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital, where he is listed in serious condition."

Its only been hot for a couple of days and people are already losing their minds.

Police are not releasing the names of the people involved.

WZZM is reporting that the child has died. =(

Now, i want to know why a three year old is in the damn road.
It isn't bad enough that someone has to live with knowing that they accidentally killed a child, but they get stabbed for someones lack of parental supervision?

Since I've been a parent it has really changed the way I drive. I'm very paranoid, especially in residential areas, of kids running in the street. I feel very irresponsible for the way I drove when I was younger. I feel I was lucky I didn't hurt myself or anyone else. This person is probably very depressed and may be wishing that they had been killed. I would have a very hard time living with it.

Yesterday I hop in my jeep and take off down my block. Just before I get to the corner I see 2 little kids somewhere between 2 or 3 years of age. They walk right out into the street with their hands spread out blocking me so that I would have to stop! I stopped approximately 2 driveways before them and I blew my horn and that scared them enough to run back into the house. NO PARENTS in sight!

Not a parent, but agree on feeling lucky I didn't hurt a child. I used to drive like an ass though subdivisions, double-triple the speed limit, drifting.. etc. I know drive under the speed limit, because i have had way to many dumb kids run out in front of me.

yesterday while headed to the gas station down a side road a kid darted out in front of me. I was able to react in time but GOD DAM did it scare the shit outta me. I was going like 15, there were cars on both sides of the road, kid bolted from the front of a lincoln town car. Parents should not be letting their kids play in the front lawn with balls. I blame the parents. As a father of 2, my kids are in the back yard ALWAYS.

After watching the woodtv clip, the step-dad should have stabbed himself instead of the driver. According to their report the child was chasing a ball into the street and ran in front of the truck. Had the step-dad been as vigilant with his supervision of the child as he was with seeking immediate revenge, the child would be alive and 2 families would not have been hurt.

Did you see the lady they interviewed for the news last night? Her comment was, "They need to slow down around here with their vehicles, are kids are always playing together in the street."

I don't know the area, but didn't we all play in the street as kids? Football games, soccer games, street hockey, bike jumps, remember waynes world?

Car

Game on....

I mean that is what it was like living in a neighborhood not all that long ago.

I don't agree that kids SHOULD always be out in the streets, but if it is a residential neighborhood people SHOULD slow down because there ARE kids in the neighborhood. It's RESIDENTIAL for a reason.

No I'm not kidding on what she said, and I guess I didn't grow up being allowed to play in the street. The difference I guess of growing up on a farm verses the City.
