Default 5.0HO and 5.8 intakes

A friend at work says he has a BBK intake (upper and lower) off of an early model ford lightning 5.8. Will that work on my 5.0 HO and what would benefit from this (high end power, low end torque, turn your engine into a turd.....)

First, 5.8 intake lower will not work on 5.0, second without a cam change, I doubt you would really see all the benefits of a better intake anyway.

My friend said that intake would work with gt-40p heads. Any truth to this? I plan on an aftermarket cam after I get the intake and heads upgraded to something a little nicer, I was thinking gt-40p heads and "cobra" intake off an explorer.

The 5.8 has a taller deck height. Which means the heads are farther apart. So the lower intake is wider than a 5.0. It will not fit physically. That is why it won't work. Idk enough about bbk uppers to say what lowers it would work with, other than a bbk lower for a 5.0 I assume.

The explorer intake is similar to the first gen lightning intakes with the exception one is 5.0 and the other is 5.8.

The best donor vehicle for parts would be a 96 explorer. They have the regular gt40 heads and the gt40 style intake.

The Cobra/explorer/gt40 are basically the same intake. Cobra/Explorer are just cast (cheaper) versions of the gt40.
They are entry level performance intakes. You will still pick up power by bolting one on. About 10 hp, and it is a top end gain, maybe not the best in a Jeep. The heads on a 302 are the key to power. The stock roller h.o. cam can make good power and better torque. Sleeper too.

Well I had the block checked and it needs full rebuild so it's for sale or going to scrapyard.
