Default 1953 Willys truck build.

Ok I have a 1953 willys truck that I just acquired. I am going to start from the from the ground up. So I need a little help before starting. I have the original frame but it has some rust and rust through in the middle of the frame. Should I just repair it and call it good or should I do a frame swap with a chevy short box truck frame? My plan is to put a dana 60 in the rear and for now just a dana 44 in the front for now. I have a ford 390 fe that is already built that I want use for the engine. ( I know I get told all the time that it is a lot of weight to deal with) I have the engine already and really don't want to spend to money on a different engine right now. Any help would be appreciated I want to get rolling on this project.

Congrats on the project. Pics of the frame rust would help a great deal in getting input from folks. Post some up when you can.

Congrats on the 390FE, had one in a 66 galaxie. Although more expensive to build than a small block they are much easier. With an aluminum intake you shave off around 90# right there. Mine made really good power for the size of the car.

So i have taken every ones advice and decides to get the original frame blasted and fix it. I have just removed the bed and now on to the cab. This will most likely be a slow build do to time and money. I just hope everyone bares with me because I am sure that I will have a lot of questions along the way.
