airbag burns, a couple of scrapes, and likely a lightly sprained left wrist and left ankle.

I'm going to be really sore tomorrow. Seatbelt tensioned down perfectly, so I didnt' hit the wheel - found pieces of her car in my back seat, and my sunglasses were some 30' past the point of impact.

I was doing 45-50ish mpg minus panic/zomg/brakepedalmashedtothefloor with new brakes/tires on it.

after the deceleration of the braking and the impact I was technically still partially in the intersection...

as for the car, I'm sure I have an insurance battle on my hands - there aren't too many sub 80k 2002 BMW 330CI's with zero rust from Florida on the market around here...

I say the car held up pretty freakin well considering ...and the safety features did their job awesomely.
If you have pain meds TAKE THEM, and try to feel better soon.
Today, you are a lucky man.

the car did amazingly well. I'm truly going to miss it, as I doubt I can economically replace it (purchased from my father inlaw for a deal that won't be able to be replicated)

I took 3 motrin to help with the swelling.

Ya the smell is bad, the worst part is when it goes off it sounds like a stun grenade went off. (Ask me how i know)

- When I bought this oldsmobile i used to have PO left a firecracker in the ashtray and i didnt see it so i put a cig out in the ashtray and nearly went deaf..

did that, a couple of times. the wife's 2008 Ford Taurus X already has rust above the passenger side of the windshield, and the heated seats are already blown. it has 48k on the odomter, and also spent one of its years in Florida.

I won't bore you with the litany of problems we had with the Chevy prior to that (they've been regurgitated multiple times)

the 2001 Mazda Miata that I daily drove before buying this BMW had zero rust on it, despite having been daily driven year round, and it still blew ice cold AC, everything worked, and the only "repairs" it needed was a clutch and brakes in the 150,000 miles that were on the odometer.

Buying American is even tougher if one is looking for a used RWD Convertible, or looking for choices in the 3 door hatch market. (didn't say it was impossible, just tougher)

those will definitely help me with insurance, as to the value of what mine was.

mine had 77k on it, and I paid substantially less than any of those due to buying it from family (and also no sales tax)

At least you got the Highway Patrol to take the crash report. Now it will be done correctly cuz they're the best. If you don't believe me, just ask them.

my wife was there (and wishes she had video taped him) when he belligerently threatened me with an accident re constructionist to be on scene, as well as threatened to arrest me for reckless driving.

I very politely invited him to do so, as I was not speeding - I made one pass in the 35 miles of my commute prior to the accident - as luck would have it, the hilljack driving the red chevy at 30 mph in a 50 mph zone from harvey lake road north caught up to the scene and claimed I was doing 70 mph and driving crazy like. (I had actually left work early so I could unwind before heading out to a baseball tournament, and was honestly just enjoying the sunny day)

I might have hit 60 mph during the pass some 5 or 6 miles south of there, and honestly don't think I broke 55 mph the rest of the way north to the point of impact at davisburg road.

he then started spouting off about how "reinforced steel cars don't collapse like that unless it's a really high speed impact" - I asked him to watch a youtube video from the NHTSA and get back with me as to how ALUMINUM unibodies are designed to crumple and even pointed out that not only was I technically still in the intersection (right rear tire is on the curved part of the curb) but that the driver's side front tire which bore the brunt of the impact had not even deflated... all of which were drastically at odds with his laughable 70+ mph bs story.

after he interviewed the other driver, she admitted she never saw me, and he indicated no citations would be issued, and that she failed to yield the right of way. (duh)

he ended the conversation admitting that he had his opinion, and I had mine... nice objective investigator there...
