The UAW will not protect them.
They know in this day and age......it is awful PR to protect people boozing on the job when the unemployment rate is 10%

There are a LOT of people that would kill for an OEM job.

I was in GM facilities for 9 1/2 years and smelled alcohol even on salaried managers' breath after lunch. There was one afternoon when I was over 10' away from the cube area and could smell it.

Yeah, don't think the suits are not sucking the teet too. I saw so many at the Pantheion and BT's. Funny.

Why bother drinking? It seems like if you actually worked it would be a buzz kill anyway.

No, a year ago I bought a new WJ, and there was a joint the glove box right behind the owners manual.

Ya right I worked for a non UAW company and there were at least 10 people that smoked dope ever day at work and non of them were ever fired. Include the ones that went out for beers every day at lunch time and I think 1/2 the day shift was screwed up. It happens every where not just UAW plants. Nobody ever goes and takes pics at these places though as it is not news worthy.

This doesn't just happen at oem plants. This is the norm through out the manufacturing industry.

Manufacturing? How about skilled trades in general?

I was sitting at "the Mustang Inn" (net shirted barmaids) after work one evening and started talking to a UAW electrician who was taking a long liquid lunch. He was bitching about his overtime being cut, etc...... And how he has made 180k for years. This year he will barely make 100k.

Awwwwww poor baby!
