Rent a bike and ride along the beach. Take an architecture tour on a kayak down the Chicago River. Go See Blue Man Group!! Go to Lincoln Square and get some German food, Chinatown if ya like Chinese food. Goto Ed Debevics for crappy service (literally mean/crappy service)
Up north a little bit is a Six Flags and waterpark.

It is now called Willis Tower.

For things to do, go to http://www.explorechicago.org/city/en.html and look at the event calendar.

Navy Pier is good for kids, has a Childrens Museum, ferris wheel and other carnival rides, restaurants, beach nearby. (bubba gump shrimp is long john silvers food for $20/plate lol) Shedd Aquarium good too. Lots of good eats in the "River North" area, close to the Magnificent Mile too, including huge disney store. These are things my family did while I was in training near Trump Tower a few weeks ago. Sky Bar is cool, the restaurant is black tie but upstairs bar accepts tourist, a bit pricey though.

If your budget allows, go to Morton's restaurant and order "The King" -- the biggest Porterhouse steak in the world!

Drive up to Six Flags, have fun, drive 7 miles west and come hang out at my place.

You can help me replace front wheel bearings on the WJ, and put my hi-steer knuckles on the YJ LOL
