Default I hate...

.. Direct TV. today the wife called them trying to sort out the up stairs box. it wouldn't boot up and refused to search for the signal. after swamping it to the basement box and so forth neither would boot up. the direct TV guy says for $50 a guy can come out and see whats wrong. since when do you have rented equipment and services that still require you to pay for them to charge you a service call? what a crooked bunch of sob's. I got to thinking about the pole and how its mounted on a 16' x 4 x 6. well I went out and looked and the sun had dried out the post and it started warping after 11 months of standing there. I tweaked it by re positioning the bolt that holds it to the deck. nothing more. came in the house and both boxes booted right up. just seemed silly for it to be something that stupid that fixed it.

Dish Network will charge you the same to come out and fix their equipment when it goes bad too.

Comcast will, come out for free, but nothing will work when they leave, even stuff that worked before.

you can blame me for the 4 x 6. when I re did the roof about 3 years ago I took the dish network dish off the roof. they had it mounted with 6 galvanized deck screws. when I put the post up it was to free the roof of any possible leaks made from the dish.
I also took down the 30' antenna and rotor assembly that I had. it worked great up till the end of analog signal

Bad yetti, no snow for you. Mounting to wood is a "Core 6" QC Fail everytime. Wood warps, also wiggles in the ground. 1"7/8 Galvanized pole with a bag of Quikcrete is the best option.

There is a difference between me knowing how to use my rod and him being able to work on other peoples poles.

Here it goes again.....

First, it's not really DirecTVs fault that they system messed up, you already proved that it was your DIY dish instal that caused the problem.

Second, I don't know why your pissed that a company is charging you to come out and fix the problem, the only piece of equipement that's rented is the box, and it's hardly ever the box that's the problem (and no, DirecTV doesn't charge you for the box if it has to be replaced); so why would they come out and see what the problem is for free, most of the time a SC is customer cause (IE, DIY dish instal on a 4x6) 2" diameter pole, cemented int he ground, or if it's 18" round dish, 1" 7/8 pole cememted in the ground.

Third, Don't get me wrong, the people you talk to for DirecTV are a bunch of retarted POS, the system itself is pretty failsafe if it's done right, but you have to get through the retards at the computer first...

I only provided the pole. Direct Tv mounted to it. I had nothing to do with the install other then providing a location.

secondly you'd think after a period of time they would send a tech out to check the system since they have so many calls for it not booting up right? this has been going on since day one.

I have given up on them getting anything working right. After 3 years, they still usually cant find my house, and one of thier installers lives next door. I have wanted to get rid of it forever, but the girlfriend wants to keep it anyway.

I want to get another box, but I have to pay like $60 for the box, then be required to have a DTV worker come out to hook it up and pay for a service call. I also think its gay that I have to pay an upfront cost for the boxes and then still have to rent it monthly.

Ohh

Still, it's the retarted installers fault,

Doesn't matter how long it's been going on, DTV wont send anybody out with first being paid; the problem probably all started with a shitty instal to begin with

If i was there; i'd ninja rig it right for you lol
