Off road Expedition

With the uncertainty of the economy nobody knows when one will have enough money to have a major wheeling trip again. If you had to choose one of the locations which would you choose.

We are planning an off-road expedition in spring of 2012. May 2012 to be specific. Some of the places we are considering are the Rubicon, Ouray, Moab, Naches(Washington) or ...... your suggestions

Have any of you wheeled there? Which would you recommend and why?

I chose Moab, mostly because that is a dream of mine to do sometime. Second would be the Rubicon. I lived in Seattle for a couple years and would go up to Naches almost monthly, sometimes more often. There is alot to do but it is no where near the scale of Moab.

I have watched allot of videos and the Rubicon looks to me like it would be the moxt fun , for camping , wheeling , and sitting around campfires kicking back and relaxing after a long day of wheeling !! Ive Just aways wanted to go there !! but then like you said it always comes down to the money situation and nothing is getting cheaper , so if i can go , that would be the place , with Moab coming in 2nd place !!

I personally would go for Ouray & Telluride or just some of the Alpine Loop out there.

The Rubicon and next door Fordyce Creek trail are awesome and it was a dream of mine doing the Rubicon trail in 03' for the 1st time and in the dark!

My heart is still there bracing for a Midwest winter!

I have never been to Moab but there are so many trails in that area as well as the not so far Colorado trails so if you went down 80 then 70 west from Denver to Moab you could do lots of trails maybe not even making it to Moan just doing the Colorado Rocky trails instead!
