Default welded dana 30

have an 89 xj with 4" lift and 31s, rear is already welded and thinkin about doing front. this is a trail rig only. No street use. Plan on making my own posi loc too so I can lock and un lock the right side axle shaft for making tight turns. Will it hold up? pros, cons?

I would carry spares. I've seen it hold up reasonably well in a CJ, but that Jeep was able to unlock the hubs on pavement.

Do the posilock and have spares.

Put a TJ shaft in it. You can get a used one for $50 or less. It will hold up but its a bitch to turn.

I ran this setup in my yj for a while, on 32s its one mean bitch to steer with tires aired down.

I broke two u-join in 6 months and I deserved both.

Fozzy lock it so that you can change back without tossing a carrier.
