Default Dodge ramcharger Axles

Ok so I have a set of axles from a late 70's early 80's ramcharger(I'm not at all sure on yr) Anyway heres what they are, 44 front passenger side drop no vacumn disconnect, and a 9 1/4 rear I believe. Bolt pattern is 5x4.5 width is 44" perch to perch 64" wms to wms. School me about these lol. Basically is the rear worth messing with? Any input would be helpful Thanks

The 9 1/4 is a faily strong axle, it is c-clip, and Moser makes stronger shafts, c-clip eliminators and narrows them.

However, gearing and lockers aren't very common for them. I have a D44/9 1/4 pair laying in my garage that I could barely give away. (I bought them on eBay for $9)

http://www.accuautoparts.com/list1.jsp I searched 95 Ram 1500 9.25 for gears and lockers.

This place has 4:56 and 4:88's for the 9.25 fwiw I have a Ram 1500 pushing around 400 hp and have had no problems with my 9.25.

The weak link is gonna be the unit bearings on the 44. I wouldn't junk it because you can fix it with later style (I think 82-83ish and later) knuckles that use regular bearings and 5x5.5 bolt pattern. Axles and c-clips from a later style truck would also swap over so your 9.25 would have the 5x5.5 bp as well.

You sure that is the 9.25 rear axle .. I seem to recall there being an 8.something ... I had a 79 pickup that had the 8.xx (cant remember exactly what it was now) dont have anything to add just thought I would mention.

9.25 is a pretty strong axle, i have one in my ramcharger with a detroit locker,4.56 gears and 35-16-15 boggers, and have never had a bit of trouble with it. the front ive had some trouble with though. mine had a detroit tru-trac in it, and the side gears and helical gears stripped all the teeth off. now i have an open carrier that im gonna weld. this is not a unit bearing style, but a regular tapered roller bearing style.

there were also 8.25s and 8.75 rear axles made.
