Default 2000 dodge 2500 5.9 gas surge problem

just bought a 2000 2500 ram 4x4 5.9 gas, everyonce in a while the rpms surge 100-200, specially when just cruising down highway, replace plugs, wires, dist cap, rotor button, tcs. any other ideas

replace the TPS sensor (throttle position sensor), what you are experiencing is the torque convertor unlocking and locking up again.

Could be the trans slipping. Try changing the fluid and filter and possibly adding lucas trans slip stuff. I had the same issue with mine and this solved it. I had 95k on mine.

is it sad that changing the TPS sensor is cheaper then changing the trans fluid these days!
when i rebuilt my trans in march, i had over $100 in just ATF+4.

you can also try drilling on the bushing in the bolt holes of the TPS, sticking some washers on the bolts, bolting the TPS back on and adjusting the voltage with a meter.
