Wasn't on the highway, but I pulled this Buick in for a power steering pump and found this after the wheel was pulled off.

I seen a first the other day, mid 90s E350 ran the drums so long, the shows wore through the drum an split it in 2, Always thought the wheel cylinder would come apart before that could happen.

Yup, been happening ever since disc brakes were invented. Doesn't every shop that turns drums and rotors have at least one example hanging on the wall?

One guy heard/felt the noise but since he had just installed new pads himself he KNEW they could not be bad so soon and kept driving it. If you install a new pad with the friction side facing away from the rotor they tend to wear out quickly....

How the F can you even drive something in that condition? I lost a pad on my F250 once and the caliper started grinding into the rotor and it was horrendous!

Funny thing Is 99% say, I just heard a noise 3 miles from home.

I had this happen once on a ranger I bought.

The day I bought it I was about a mile and a half from home starting shaking really bad and makeing an awful grinding noise pull it in my barn and seen that

My buddies ranger did that and it never made a noise, the brakes got shitty one day and went to change them only to find a rotor that looked like the example.
