Default Another reason to Ride your bicycle (Fundraiser)

To raise money

The Saturday after this one (June 4th) I am going to be riding my bike to raise money. I'm actually starting the Thursday before (The 2nd) and doing a Century, or 100 miles, in one day. Then riding 50 miles that Saturday.

The event is called Cycle the Campus and it's a fundraiser for His House Christian Fellowship. I've been a part of His House for 7 or 8 years and have seen many positive things come from it.

What is His House Christian Fellowship?

HHCF is a non-denominational Christian ministry that offers a fun and safe place for college students to hang out and talk about anything. We have many members that are not Christian, They just come to hang out because they enjoy the company. We have two ministry houses for MSU, one Guys house and one girls house, and that is where we hang out most of the time. We also use these houses to give college students a place to get away from what ever they need to, whether it's thier room mate or a crazy ex. What we don't do is shove our religion down peoples throats or preach at them. We speak the word Of God into thier lives, if they are willing to hear. But, for the most part, we just hang out with each other and give a welcome atmosphere to people that need a break from 'college life'.

There are 11 different MI campuses that HHCF is on and is ministering to. If you've ever been to CMU or MSU you may have heard about "The Hot Dog people" or "Jesus Dogs". That's us. Our goal is to show the love of Christ to the people who need it most. We don't preach, We just love.

What I will be doing....

I will be riding 150 miles in 2 days-ish. The Thursday before CTC (June 2nd) I will be doing 100 miles in one day. Riding from Sparty on MSU's campus to a cabin my parents have near Mecosta, MI. I'll take a break on Friday and then ride the last 50 with everybody else on Saturday at the actual event. There is a slight chance I will be going for 100 miles on Saturday as well. It all depends on if my legs and/or the rest of my body can make it.

I don't know many of you but if you'd like to ride anytime during those times, Just let me know. I'm not entirely that fast, but I'm sure it could be interesting.

What I'm asking of you

Money. I'm asking that, if you want to, to help support our ministry. I've had some great conversations about my faith and hope I've made an impact on some of you. If you believe what I believe, great. If you don't, great. I'm not looking for a Theological Debate just for anybody willing to help impact college students in a positive way.

Just to be clear, I'm not looking to argue what I believe. Usually I'd be all for it. This is the pub, I won't be surprised if something comes up but I, at least, expect most of you to be respectful of this thread. If you want to start jabbing away (ignorantly) at my faith, Start a thread in the PGR forum. Not here, Please.

Edit, I'm stupid. Forgot the link.

To help us out go to www.cyclethecampus.org and click 'make a donation' and then fill out the form. My name is Scott Keef, I'm on the team for MSU. I don't care if you pledge for me, Just for the ministry in general. Team MSU, or Gang Green as we call it, raised almost 9,000 dollars alone and we're looking to surpass that this year. Thank you very much for any support.

Also, If you have anything you need prayer for, let me know. Whether you give or not, I'll have 5-6 hours on Thursday to pray and keep my self occupied. Thanks!

Good luck on the ride!!
It doesn't matter the reason as long as your helping! And thats a serious distance.

donation coming your way. Greatlakes has been a good supporter of my Make a Wish ride for years, I hope they help you as well.

Small Change in plans. I found out that I can' t get work off on Thursday on one of my jobs. So....I'll be riding the 100 on Friday. Should be interesting. If all goes as planned I'll be riding ~150 miles in 24 hours.
