Default Trailer Light Help

I am having issues with trailer lights. The tow vehicle is a 2005 Durango w/a factory tow package. I have 2 trailers. One is a boat trailer that when hooked up has no running ligths. The other is a utility trailer that has no running lights and when the turn signals are used both flash at the same time. I first discovered the problem on the utility trailer and replaced the tailights with a new tailight kit (which did not help). I also replaced the ground with a new connecter and self tapper to bare metal (this did not help either). After all of this, I checked the fuses and found a burnt one in the tow location under the hood (I was excited thinking I found the problem). Replaced the fuse, and both trailers continue to act the same way (I double checked the fuse after hooking up both trailers and it is fine since replacing). Please help, I am getting very frustrated to say the least!

Sounds like the wiring is crossed/shorted on the vehicle side of the harness. Follow the trailer wiring harness on the vehicle to see where it taps into the vehicle wiring. There should be some kind of junction connector that plugs into the factory wiring. More than likely it is shorted internally. See the link below. It shows the part I am talking about.

That is not the exact connector but it should be something similar to it. I am going to look up the wiring diagram also.

Buttercr125, thank you for the replies. I will look for the connector tomorrow. Just so you know, the Durango does have a factory installed trailer harness. The way I read the link it is for an aftermarket one. I am about at my wits end with the thing, have spent way to much time messing with it. Thanks again!

Do you have an actual ground wire running from the trailer to vehicle? I have seen it do some pretty weird/random things when it grounds through the hitch.

I have good grounds on the trailer, but I do not have a seperate ground wire going to the vehicle (if I understood that correctly). I have a buddy coming over with his truck tonight to hook both trailers up and see if they work good with his vehicle. In my mind this would point the problem to the tow vehicle for sure (eliminate trailer wiring issues). Thanks again ahead of time for everyone's help. This should not be difficult.....drives me nutts I have taken multiple vehicles apart and rebuilt them but cant get to the bottom of a trailer wiring issue.....
